How is this workout?
Hi everyone. Been a while since I've posted in this section of the board, but I have a new workout routine and would like some input. I do everything in two days, back to back, since I usually don't have more than two days available in a row.
Day 1 (chest, abs, legs) dumbbell bench leg lifts with a 6kg ball between legs squats decline bench side crunches or rotation (machine) leg press incline bench or dips decline crunch with medicine ball or crunches on big inflatable ball box jumps (3ft) from squat position triceps Day 2 (back, shoulders) wide grip pullups military press seated or bent over rows arm raises to side (with weights) pull downs or regular pullups shrugs curls If it's warm out I bike to the gym. It's a 5 mile ride each way, but not too many hills. On off days I usually go indoor climbing. Any critiques on this routine? |
DAMN!!
now i feel like I dont do anything for my workout. how long does it take you to do ur routine for each day?? |
Only takes about an hour and a half to two hours, the second day is a bit shorter though. Add an hour if I'm biking though, no racing for me!
|
Maybe add some deadlift or straight leg deadlifts to day two. What are your goals?
|
Mmm, I forgot about deadlifts, I do those on the second day usually. My goals are to get a little bigger (put on 10-15 pounds) and definitely stronger. I've noticed an increase in strength but not increase in size. Most likely I'm not doing the correct weights for my exercise.

More cardio.

How long have you been working out? How many sets and reps for each exercise? How frequently do you workout? I see you said you do these two days in a row, but how long before you do them again? Are you on any sort of weight gaining diet?
|
I've been working out for about 4 years now, but different workouts. Before I started working a lot I would go 4 days a week. 2 on, 1 off, etc. I usually do 3 sets of 10 (not 10 because I do a weight to do a max of around 10-8-6). I am not on any weight gaining diet though.
|
That's probably why you haven't gained any size. Your body needs calories to build muscles, and it's not going to get those calories from anywhere inside your body or use the calories allotted to more important tasks, so you need to eat more calories than your body is going to use for the more important tasks.
