Optical Illusion - How does this one Work?

Stare at the cross in the middle, but don't cross your eyes. You'll see the illusion, now explain it please! :) |
mmmmmm....
Wait, what were we doing again? |
Read below the picture?

Thanks! :)

Pretty cool. The color sensitivity thing reminds me of when I wear yellow color eyeglass lenses for a while, then take them off and the yellow dividing lines on the highway look pink. First time I wondered who the hell would paint pink lines on the highway.

Why does a small red bar flash on the node 1 above the horizontal on the left?
|
Because it does?
|
focusing on the cross prevents your peripherial vision to see the red spots unless they are green at that moment? since the green is a stand out color? just a quick guess
|
This illusion is caused by the location of color receptors and black and white receptors on your retina. One set of receptors is located near the center of your retina while the other is located along the circumference. By focusing on the cross in the middle the light from the colored dots is hitting where your retina is mostly sensitive to black and white images. I'm not sure but I think the green dot persists because of the movement.

Well, that's about what I said...
Hey! I just didn't wanna show off and show anyone up! ...lol... |
