College Algebra prep
I'm working on another degree via distance learning and I need to take college algebra which I haven't seen in many years. Does anybody know of any home/interactive type of prep courses that one could obtain to prep for algebra and higher courses?

Well at my school, college algebra is the basic math class you could take. I dont think you would really need to take any prep classes for that.
Depending on your math skills, it should come back to you pretty easily. |
Stop by your local library and pick up a intermediate/college algebra book and run through each chapter and do the exercises..The given examples may help to jog that memory back up. I was a tutor some semesters ago, and that was what we'd do before the students took placement tests...

college algebra as in the stuff you take in high school? or college linear algerbra?
If your taking linear I would totally suggest you brush up on your vector and vector fields related math. Neither isnt too bad, they just takes a ton of time and energy to master. |
I'm not sure what you mean... by that.. there are plenty of college math, from basic algebra, to algebra more complicated the calc... So yeah... hmmm.. I'm guessing you mean fundemental algebra.... I woudl say if you're nervous just do a google search for math problems... but overall the course instructor is supposed to teach you all you need to know to pass teh tests, and do the homework of the class.... Plus you could always shedule appointments with the teacher.. to have him or her help you aftwerward.. if'you don't undersand something.

From the college algebra course description at my college:

Stopping at the local library is good. I was non trad student returning to school after a six year break. I used the Made Easy series books to help refresh my memory. Named things like Trigonometry Made Easy and Algerbra Made Easy.
You might look at the For Dummies line of books also but I find those to be too dumbed for my tastes. |
