Sewing...

I noticed no one was even LOOKING at my thread in the Member's Playground, so I thought I would post it here to perhaps get some responses.......

I have just recently gotten into sewing. I haven't actually done anything yet, only because I don't have all the materials I need.

I was wondering if anyone had some sewing patterns (old or new) that I could have, that are around 34 breast, 28 waist, 34 hips. I would REALLY REALLY appreciate it!!

Also, I would really appreciate any sewing tips (like how to gather using a sewing machine, dangit!), etc.

just a headsup for ya LPM - the view counter has not been working correctly lately, so even if people ARE looking at a thread, unless they reply to the thread, their view does not show up on the counter.

I don't have any patterns to pass on, but have you tried looking at Goodwill or a thrift store? They may have some there, and if you're practicing, it certainly can't hurt.

The secondhand stores here always have patterns. Just make sure all the pieces are there before you buy it!

Also check out freecycle.org for your area - my area there are always people giving away patterns.

there are also crafty magazines and crafty websites that you can get free patterns from.

it's also not hard at all to adjust a pattern for size... just takes a little put of patience and scotch tape and paper...

For sewing, best tip i can give you -- is practice practice practice.. and start with small projects so you won't get frustrated.

keep a supply of needles because they always break when you least expect it. and take good care of your machine... have it cleaned and oiled regularly for it to last.
