How to keep cotton shirts from fading?
Is there anyway to keep cotton shirts especially t-shirts from fading? I usually hang dry my shirts but they're slow developing this faded fuzzy look.
|
I usually wash them inside out and make sure I only use Tide laundry detergent. Stay away from cheap detergent! I've learned my lesson!
Damn Sam's Club value bucket o'detergent... |
If they're nicer than the average one-color pocket tee or regular shirt, wear an undershirt and only wash when they need it (you can usually get 4-5 wearings out of a shirt if you don't sweat a lot and hang them up after you wear them.) If they're particularly nice, get a home dry-cleaning set and do them all at once.

Inside out, and hang dry is what i've always heard. I dont have the paitence or room to hang dry, so i use low heat in the dryer which seems to keep them looking nicer than full bake on high.

eventually all shirts must go to that fuzzy place in the sky, but hang drying them will delay it.

Flat drying instead of hang drying prevents stretching.

A good steam iron also prolongs the lifespan/colour of the shirt. Also, if hang drying outside, try to hang the shirt in a shaded area rather than direct sunlight.

i agree with healer..dont hang them out in direct sunlight, that'd be the main contributing factor to fading.
its amazing what u learn from your mum :D |
