RCA cable degradation

anyone here know the max length of RCA cables before the quality begins to degrade? i want to run one rca about 100 feet or so and wondered if it would compromise the quality of the picture. thank you.

There isn't a maximum, just a loss per distance depending on wire type. For 100ft of video you should use coax to prevent interference. RG59. Don't pay much more than $20 for 100ft with ends. Should be able to find them for $15. Cables are huge margin boosters so call around for prices.

You can save by making them yourself but parts & tools can make the first few expensive.

You can also by a coax to rca adapter, that might help.

RCA will start to degrade noticable after 75ft, Coax (for broadcast of non-digital cable) after 100 to 150.

mr. slant - for what it's worth, digital coaxial is a scam. any rca cable will transmit a 'digital' signal. for a long run, use a good quality RG6 coaxial cable (what all the networks use for video), like the Belden 1694a with a maximum rated transmission distance of 1760ft for composite video.

I'm just wondering why you are running a cable that far?

Ever wonder how a TV can play a DVD when there isn't a DVD player visible?
