Maggots!!!!! Don't read while eating!

Alright, I'm not this nasty of a person... Hurricane Francis came, the garbage trucks didn't.

I have a couple bags of trash in the trash can, I see maggots crawling on the outside, chunks of maggot eggs on the side, so we bring the trash to the corner. We pick up another bag that didn't have anything meat-like in it, lots of maggots underneath. We can HEAR them crawling inside this big outdoor garbage can.

I have moved all the garbage to the corner (I don't give a shit what the homeowners association says) and used a water hose to blow them all down the road, but they keep crawling back up...

How do I deter them?

They'll probably be gone by the time I get an answer (hopefully) but if anyone knows something, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE let me know.... this is disgusting...

Burn it.

or you could spray it with insecticides

or you could get a lot of spiders

or you could gather up all of that garbage and take it to the dump and then clean out your trashcans.

Just be aware that the first two suggestion are probably illegal for environmental reasons.

I ended up sitting out there with the hose for 2 hours spraying them down the driveway... They're all gone now I think though. I didn't even think about burning them... wish I had :)

Just buy some flammable, canned, pressurized liquid (axe deodorant, lysol, etc..)
and a lighter, use it like a flamethrower. But only do it in short bursts, the can might explode.

heat or time is about the only way to get rid of the nasty things. If u choose time, have fun with the flies...

What you really need is lots of birds to eat them.. i guess they all got blown away

Belah is the best deterent and killer for maggots, a .99 cent gallon of belach will help out a bunch.

I work at a grocery store, and you could only imagine the number of maggots outside my back door on a daily basis during the hot summer months, seeping and swarming out of the dumpster. About the only thing I have found that works well is to just dump a couple gallons of bleach and just spray the shit out of the area with a hose (I have the luxury of having plenty of bleach not to mention hoses readily available with hot water from the various departments)

This seems like a niche in the market... first person to patent an effective maggot trap/deterrent/killer will be a millionaire!

collect them and use for fishing.
