how to fall asleep on my back?
ok well ive been thinkin about getting my ears pierced... and it would help with healing if i could not sleep on one of my ears... which means sleeping on my back... which ive never been able to do...
ive tried just laying on my back... but i always get a bit of a crick in my neck and have to turn over before i fall asleep... so... anyone got some pointers for learning to fall asleep on my back? |
Invest in a good pillow. I have one that has sort of a trough cut through it. This cradles the head, and supports the neck. It cost about $40, and is greeeeeeeeat.
Sleep with only a thin cover over you (or no cover), and place the palm of one hand on your tummy and the other hand slightly above the first. You hands will keep you warm, but you will get cold if you roll over. When I do this, my body sort of goes on autopilot and I stay in that position. |
I sleep facing the bed, on my stomach. But then again, that requires you having one ear on the pillow.
I had both my ears pierced years ago. Not the little pussy girly sleeper piercing, but a decent 14 gauge one that require a big fuck-off hollow needle and pliers. It hurt, but not too much. And you can sleep on your ears. Just don't go thrashing about in your sleep! Getting your nipple pierced is a lot worse. Trust me. :-) Mr Mephisto |
alrighty... i tend to sleep the same way...
i dont think i thrash around in my sleep too much... still would be cool to be able to sleep on my back... a friend of mine suggested no pillow at all... he said he can only sleep on his back without a pillow... |
I normaly start on my back but it just doesnt feel right and role on to my side.
Try sleeping on your side but with your hand on face rasing your head of the pilow slightly. |
Never underestimate the power of a good sedative.

well, if you use more than one pillow, take it down to one, it will help keep your spine alligned better; but I'm not sure sleeping on your back is going to change anything since your head is likely to loll over to the side and you'll still end up lying on your ear.

Have you considered sleeping in zero gravity? Just a thought. I'm here to help.

As far as sleeping on your back goes JStrider, I've grown more accustomed to sleeping on my back in the last few months. I sleep with two pillows, not on top of each other, but one corner slightly overlapping the other. Then put my head on the pillow underneath and rest my cheek on the pillow that is slightly overlapping (because I like to be 'propped' up slightly). I also bring one knee up, slide it against the bed. I move around a lot when sleep, but this way helps me crash some nights when my back is bothering me. You can also try placing a pillow under your knees when you're laying on your back. I must agree with Clavus, I keep my hands on my stomach as well. :) Happy sleeping! |
Yeah I would recommend bending your knees, and putting one pillow there, (stabelizing your legs), and another pillow for the head.
Also a good sedative can always help |
I'm trying to get accustomed to sleeping on my back. Someone told me that sleeping on your stomach is bad for you? I don't know if that's true or not. I'll try some of the suggestions people have made here. I think no pillow under my head and a pillow under my legs might do the trick. Although I'm a pretty violent sleeper so I will probably wake up face down on the floor. BTW, I didn't have any issues sleeping on my side when I got my ear pierced. Just make sure to wash your piercing and keep it clean and it should be fine.

Indeed. Buy some nyquil and lay on your back. Then close your eyes and say goodnight. |
