Any plumbers out there?

When my friend uses the kitchen sink the pipes make some sort of crazy chewbacca meets t-rex roar. We aren't really sure what it is and wondering if it may be something simple like some drano or something a pro should probably handle. Advice?
Thanks in advance.

I'm not a professional plumber, but I play one on TV...

Does the cold water tap make the noise when you turn it on or is it the hot water or is it both? Does the noise come from the drain? Does it happen all the time or occasionally?

Need a little more info to determine the problem.

To me this sounds as though there is a water filter that is functioning at less that capacity. Check to see if there is an undersink filter that needs replacing.

Sounds to me (with out THGL's additionally requested details) that you have a pressure build up that is resolved when opening the faucet, manifest by the noises you hear.

Usually they sound like the pipes are knocking or bumping something inside the walls.

There is a little bulb like section of copper that you can sweat into the cold water line to keep pressure noises from happening. Pressure relief valve I guess would be the right words.

I've only seen and heard about them, never installed or had one installed...as I'm not a professional plumber either....

(But I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night )

I would still call a professional plumber.
