Karaoke on my Laptop
OK, I have a disco ball and I have chips and dip. I've even hooked up my computer to my stereo and microphone! Now, all I have to do is get some karaoke files.
1. What's the best format for these files? Are the *.kar files better than *.mp3 or *.vcd? 2. Where's the best place to find these files? 3. What's the best (freeware) program to play the karaoke files? |
You can find tons of ZIP files on WinMX that contain both an MP3 track and the CD+G file that displays the lyrics. There's a plugin for one of the popular media players that does it. I forget exactly how it all works now, but a friend of mine is heavy into that stuff. I'll contact her and find out what you need to do.
There are also several karaoke-oriented chat channels on WinMX where people are more than happy to help you get started. |
thanks sm--i'll check the winmx chat channels also.

Karaoke files?!?! I would try looking in hell since that's apparently where karaoke started ;)

My friend hasn't gotten back to me yet. I think WinMX karaoke enthusiasts generally follow the convention of prefixing "(CDG)" or "[CDG]" to the filenames to help other users find them more easily.
