I've tried draino and a plunger
no go

any ideas before I start ripping apart plumbing?

Bathroom, kitchen, or utility?

My bathroom is usually a human/cat hair mixture that stops up the plumbing. You need to get your hands on a chemical that is designed to dissolve hair in that case. I have this stuff in a plastic bottle with skulls and crossbones all over it. It doesn't even have a name. Draino needs to sit a while, and if it's already clogged, it will take time to settle.

Also, when you plunge, do you see water or bubbles being forced out of another drain? They may be connected. Try capping the other two with some sort of seal before plunging again.

Put a bucket under the sink and remove the elbow. If it's PVC, you may be able to unscrew the flanges with your hands. Otherwise, you'll need a plumbers wrench. If the clog is farther down the line, then I'd go with fhqwhgads' suggestion and use a snake.

That foaming pipe snake stuff worked wonders on our shower, it used to drain soo slow but we let that stuff sit in there for a few hrs than poured down boiling hot water, fixed it up..

Before we found the foaming stuff we tried many bottles of Drano, it just doesn't work that well.

Thanks for all the good advice. Fortunately, I wasn't being lazy and just posting a new thread, but actually used the search engine to locate all the previous clogged sink threads. So far nothing has worked, and right now I am trying the bacterial septic tank powder. If that doesn't work, I will get a snake this week-end. My clog was due to posole that I poured into the garbage disposal. I'll bet the posole continued expanding and formed a hard, starch plug somewhere down the line. So, here's hoping the bacteria will eat away at it.

I think that I have to agree with everyone that getting a plumber's snake will solve that problem. You can usually rent one at Home Depot or Lowe's.

If its just a small clog, using some baking soda and vinegar works pretty well.

If you have a septic tank it may need pumping out.

most shower drain cloggs are from long hair. It will catch on the stopper rod. Remove the cover screen and see if there is a web of hair. I had this problem after only 2 weeks of company visiting.
