taxes, oh yeah!

I had a quick question for any of the tax savvy people around here.

Here's the situation: My College sent tax information saying how much I my parents paid for college and everything later than when then filed their taxes. The problem only is just with deductions and, of course, financial aid.

Is there any way to claim these deductions later than when you filed taxes?

If the costs are significant, you can file a 1040X and amend your returns, which is fairly easy to do.

You might check first to see if you are eligible for the tax credits (lifetime learning and hope) or if your AGI is too high to claim them.
