A Chibble of ________: What's a Chibble?
Hey guys,
My grandmother uses the word chibble sometimes. She uses it as an adjective meaning a "small portion of." I was searching through some dictionaries (real world and on-line [namely www.m-w.com]) and scoured the internet for information. She's from the Carlolinas and lived mostly in the South except for a short time in Guam. Chibble, it sounds British. You guys have any definiative answers on the true deffinition of chibble (if its even a word)? Links It popped up a few places. Cornish? http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~marci...w/dialect.html Quote:

It's a pretty simple sounding word and my guess is that it evolved independently in different places where it means different things. Google only finds about a hundred pages so it probably doesn't have any sort of established definition anywhere.
