Video from computer to TV
Ok, here is my basic problem:
I want to play the music video's and music from my computer, on my big ol stereo. I have a reciever and everything on that end. However, i need to know what would i need to run it from my computer to the TV and stereo? How expensive would it be, etc? Also, if i dont have to open up the case that would be nice, what can i do?? |
u need a vid card with a tv type output... most these days are s-video, they work really well.. just buy a cheap vid card w/ svid + cable.. prob under $100

Another option would be an Averkey by AverMedia. More expensive but you don't have to do anything to the computer. Plus you could output to multiple screens. They run for about 150 bucks on Newegg.com

As for the sound, alot of sound cards nowadays have an Optical out or a SPDIF, so if you have a digital receiver with an optical input, you should be able to plug the audio directly into the receiver.

Just get a graphics card with S-video out...most of them have them. Easy to install, just open the lid and pop it into the AGP slot (brown one) or have a technician do it for you (waste of money)

I have the Averkey that SuperMidget mentioned, and it works very well for video and dvd playback. The optical output for sound would probably give you the best results, but if not, just get a 1/8" headphone to RCA adaptor and run the appropriate length RCA cable to your reciever. You'd pretty much be stuck with 2 channel stereo sound this way, unless your soundcard is set up to allow surround sound output through the headphone, microphone, and line-in jacks, then running the cables to the appropriate inputs on your reciever.
If you're only looking for 2 channel stereo, the adaptors are about $2-$4 at Radioshack, and RCA cables are pretty cheap. |
