OpenOffice.org help
How do I get my pictures to stay there in Presentation? When I exit then re-open it, they're gone and just show a little shape image at the top.
|
I used: insert>graphics>from file
and it worked fine for me. If you were copy/pasting the image in there then that could have been causing some problems, try inserting it instead. Good luck! |
fuzzix got it, the reason is because when you insert from file it saves the image into the openoffice file, as opposed to linking it, which just leads to a big mess.

So should I link or copy?

I' assuming 'copy'
(too lazy to check, sorry) Linking would likely cause the same mess which numist_net mentioned. I'm assuming linking means saving the location of the image in you OOo document. If the original image changes location (or you e-mail the document without specifically sending the image with it for example), OOo will be unable to find the image at the location it says in the document, and will thus not load the image. "Copying" most likely means inserting the actual data that makes up the image into your OOo file. This makes the document a lot larger (disk-space-wise) but ensures that whenever, wherever, whoever opens the document will see the image. So I say: "copy" |
If this is turning into an OOo general thread, I have two questions as well:
1) in MS Word, I take advantage of the ability to allow a cell of a table to be split over a page break. I can't figure out how to do this in OOo. 2) also in Word, I usually work in Normal View rather than Page Layout View, which I find less distracting. Is there any way to get out of Page Layout View in OOo? |
