Double standards for men and women

I'm doing a report on the most famous/interesting examples of double standards for men or women. Some of the ones I've thought of so far are:

Middle-Eastern women having to wear shawls
the plate treatment in Africa
the Madonna kiss
Annika Sorenstam/Martha Burke
Equal Pay Act

I don't think this has anything to do with what your asking here but your inquiry reminds me of the story about the woman who sued an exclusive mens club for discrimination.

A woman sues a mens club because she's not invited!
thats like the parents of a girl suing the BOY Scouts for not letting her join. This makes me FURIOUS. no common sense!

Snoop, I hope I've added rather than detracted from your thread.

here is my example of some double standards
Salem Witch trial
Martha Stewart/Annikan Skywalker

I think the fact that most men call sexually liberated women "sluts" while they themselves go on sex-binges is a pretty good example of poor double-standards.

Men who will hold open doors or give up a seat for a woman, but not a man.
man hit man, man no hit woman.
Lesbians are a turn on for many guys, gay men aren't.

I stretched my brain and got:

how women use to have to walk behind men in Japan
lack of representatives in representative democracy

The double standard is something quite interesting. When you think of it, you think of women being treated as less than men, and in every aspect they are below us. Which I am glad to say, is not the truth as much today. But if we were to equal out the genders, I think people would be getting much more than they barganed for. You have to remember that women are abused by, as much as they use the double standard. We all know the chick in the mini skirt is going to get the job before the blue collard slob does. Just as United States Society would never force a woman to war before a man. Not saying that a woman wouldnt want to go, but its not something Im looking forward too. What Im trying to say is that if the genders were equal literally, than females would be getting a lot more than they bargained for. Same with males, I personally wouldnt look forward to spending 3 hours putting make up on.

Not sure what you mean by this or how it involves a double standard.

Women still make far less then men for doing the same job...If a woman is agressive, or pushy she is a bitch, the same qualities make a man a good sales man or an excellent businessman.
