How do I evict skunks?
A small family of skunks has taken up residence under my front porch. If anyone has had success evicting skunks using methods other than traps, I'd love to here it.
Thanks, Jameson |
Go to the pet store and get the stuff for keeping pets specially cats off of furniture /out of gardens. and apply it liberally around and under the porch (if you can get it under there). Be carefull, when it hits them they will come out of undder there pretty quick and you don't want to be in the way. Also spead or spray it around the perimeter of your property apply it repeatedly over a couple of days so they don't return to your yard and take up residence in another area. They feel safe there now and they will return if you don't make it uncomfortable and scary to them.
Once they leave wrap some chicken wire or place wood lattice around the porch to keep them and other animals from getting in there. |
Thanks! I hadn't thought of that spray stuff. We may even still have a can in the basement...

Paint your black cat a white stripe down her back, then...

amonia. they hate the smell. you can put a small cup of it near the entrance. you can spray it on your trash cans. good luck.

Kick em in the nuts!

Smelly Way: Use a .410 or any other type of medium range weapon to kill them. Then grab a shovel and heave them into the back of the next truck that drives by.
Non-Smelly Way: Leave spotlights aimed in their general direction and have music playing towards them as well. After the second day of this disturbance they will most likely decide to take up residence somewhere else. Thus keeping you from getting near them. |
If they're under your porch I would recommend a visit from your friendly neighborhood 9mm, rather than a .410 :)
Seriously, though, you're probably better off killing them than just chasing them off. They'll come back. There are certainly better ways than guns... just might not be as much fun. |
Isn't it illegal to just shoot an animal like that?
|
skunks always come back, 3 times i chased them out from under my back porch/deck using ammonia
and they come back its been 3 years since they first moved in the thing that kept them out the longest was an ammonia bomb i made using a full bottle of ammonia, plastic bag of black powder, in the top with cannon fuse thru the closed lid tossed it down the hole it shook the deck the family of skunks ran out pretty damn quick then ran in circles disoriented, sprayed a little then ran into the woods they were gone til the next summer |
oh, it depends on local and state ordinances regarding shooting an animal in your yard
in PA skunk season never closes |

Try moth balls in old panty hose. Make a few small little bags of them and chuck 'em under the porch. They don't like the smell and they tend to last a little longer than the ammonia. Also the lights and loud music work well too.
Also to keep 'em out, make sure to close up the openings using wire fencing. |
moth balls, sounds dumb but it works like a charm
