.pdf to word or .txt
Hi
Does anyone know if there is any way to convert a pdf file to rtf, doc, txt - anything like that? Everything I have tried just shows it page as an image copied into a word file - but I need to edit the text (and yeah, I do know the point of pdf is youre not supposed to be able to edit it!) |
If the PDF is not a text based PDF then you're going to have to OCR the PDF in order to get the text out of it.
You can try to SELECT the text, by pressing the select tool. If there is non then it is just an image and you'll have to use an OCR program like this one: https://www.ocrterminal.com/ |
cynth is right.
if its a pdf scanned as an image then you will need to use OCR. if its text based you can copy the text and paste it into your document. |
If you want, you can use the very helpful file conversion site Zamzar.
You upload the file you want converted, and Zamzar converts it to just about anything you want. It then emails you a link to the converted file, which you can download. Zamzar - Free online file conversion |

I think we have some OCR software I can have a go with. |
Thanks for the info!

Adobe also have an online converter (assuming it is a text pdf in the first place)
Access.adobe.com - Adobe PDF Conversion by Simple Form We have used this for work a bit. |
For the record even if its a text PDF when you convert it to MSword it will look right but the formatting that makes it that way will be REALLY wierd.
