design business folder
Which program would you recommend using to design a business folder (you know papers kept inside, to hand to clients). I am looking for any advice, please no adobe indesign i hate that program with a passion.

Are you just designing a cover or is this a multipage, multi tiered piece?
|
I came in here to suggest Adobe InDesign.
You can try any image software as long as you get the dimensions right. Quark XPress? I hate that fucking program, but it's a bit different from InDesign (in a worse way). |
Basically just the cover for the folder.

You'll be fine with Photoshop if you know the folder's dimensions. Don't forget to account for crop marks.

Yea, since you're not designing in multiple pages, you can avoid InDesign and Quark (though I have a habit of using InDesign whenever I'm handling type, as I don't trust myself without setting up style sheets first). If the type stays big, you can design it in photoshop and probably don't have to worry about losing resolution when you print it out. If you're writing paragraphs (like around 11-12 pt), it may get a little fuzzy, so it's safer to do it in illustrator. This is assuming you have these programs already. You can do basic, but still really clean designs in Publisher, but it's nowhere near as fun as illustrator. =)
How big of a cover do you need to design? Like Logan says, the crop marks will save you, especially if it's an odd format. |
Nothing wrong with using PowerPoint either. It's simple to use, you can import any photo or graphic and move them around at will.
