Any rose gardeners?
OK, so I have decided to try my hand at gardening. I bought one bareroot rose to try with and see how it goes.
Now I have been reading a lot about how to care for them and one thing is to cut away canes that grow towards the center. Now looking at my bareroot I see there is one cane that kinda works its way through the center, but it ends up curving outward like the others. Think I should get rid of it? Also, I noticed there is one cane that looks like it is actually two canes. It splits at the top. Not sure if I should do something about this either. Could someone take a look at the pic I attached and tell me what they think? Thanks! http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...areroot001.jpg |
I would not prune this rose. Four canes are fine. None of them look damaged so you are okay. If any were damaged, too close to each other or you had more than 6 or 7 canes, then I would prune. Have fun.

Leave it alone, plant it and let it grow. See what happenes. It's to small to worry about things like that.

Roses need a lot of care and patience. Just tend to them properly and don't overdo the chemicals. I'm sure you'll have a lovely, flowering plant in no time. :)

agree with general consensus. let it establish itself a bit before playing with it.
