I desperately want to make a wav of the parody of Dog Whisperer on the avi I have of South Park ... how do I go about getting an audio of that section?

I dont want to do anything lame like use a microphone up to my speakers, I want to try and get it recorded from within the computer, if that makes sense.

Audacity has features so that it records from the stereo out. Also, it works on all platforms.

Then select "Recording" under the "Adjust properties for..." menu. Select OK / Apply, and then in the main window, select Stereo Mix or Wave or whatever is appropriate. Once you select that, you can use any recording software including the two recommended above.
