A most unusual construction sign.
There has recently been some construction going on with the roads around my place. And a couple of days ago, this interesting sign appeared. No Joke.

I don't get it. When I was in college and we'd see that sign while out for a run, it meant that they'd just oiled a dirt or gravel road to keep the dust down.
Why's it funny? |
Ditto. Saw that sign a LOT when my dad was in the streets dept. It went out every time they chip-sealed a street.
|
Ok, maybe with gas approaching $3.00 a gallon, other people don't yet see other possible ways to interpret this sign.
|
gas = fresh oil? I still don't get it. The oil that they spray on roads is usually just a step above sludge.
|
You need to have a buxom scantily clad lass and a bottle of mineral oil on hand at all times. And then place said buxom lass, properly and freshly oiled, next to the noted sign.

sorry mirevolver, they just oiled the road, so slow down.
|
Ok, I'll try to explain how I interpreted it....
Oil, the stuff that.... Ah fuck it, now we all know why I'm not a comedian. |
Now *that* post was funny.

badumpbump. Thank you folks. I'll be here all week. Sorry, just had to be done. |
If it makes you feel better, I laughed. If only from the randomness; I've never seen a sign that said that. :)

LoganSnake - hilarious! I may have to steal that sign...
|
You are on to something LoganSnake.
Thanks for the heads-up. http://www.thehumorarchives.com/atta...6fire02580.jpg http://cdn.davesdaily.com/pictures/7...structions.jpg |
Love the bridge out sign.
I do wish I had gotten a picture when the city here screwed up and posted a sign that said, "Thru traffic merge right" and another sign 100 feet down the road that said, "Thru traffic merge left." That was indeed comical. |
has anyone here ever smoked "oil" ... is that where you were going with the original post "Mi' ?
|
The sign used to say "Loose gravel."
Think about that. |
They've also changed the signs around here from 'loose gravel' to 'fresh oil.' It should just say 'We've spent your tax dollars on our huge bonuses and there's not enough money for asphalt so we've covered your road with used oil and stones.'
|
I had a white German Shepard years ago, that rolled in "Fresh Oil" what a mess!
