Ultimate Spider-man
Anyone got this, or played this yet? The reviews are quite contradictory.

I got the Game Boy Advance version. Good story. Fun game play. The stuff you can actually do it in (as in abilities) is a bit lame. I enjoyed it. Problems - there are some people who I couldn't beat without cheats, and I'm better-then-your-average-gamer. Also a bit repetitive. Loved the cell shading graphics. Loved the storyline.
If you have time to waste - gopher it. |
It's not bad.. I "found" an ISO of it and mounted it, and it's been entertaining for the last 4 or 6 hours. The only complaint I have is that webshooting is fckin hard to control, especially when you're trying to race. He seems to web to the nearest building, which most times is not what I want..
I'd give it an 8 outta 10.. |
I got it for the x-box a while back...
Good game, I guess. I really like the look, the storyline was good, and the slinging around the city was a blast. However... I didn't really like the fighting (I felt Spiderman 2 did a much better job with that) and the side missions are still too damn repetitive; save guy off roof, catch a crazy driver, yada yada yada. The story is still too short (you could probably power through it in a sitting or two) and the city was waaaay too small (again, I feel that Spiderman 2 is superior). And the races.... They seem to serve no purpose other than to frustrate the player. The unlockables really aren't that special and the whole play as 'Venom' thing wasn't really what I expected. All you can really do is rampage, killing citizens and throwing cars, which is fun for about 20 minutes, or you can...you guessed it..race. It's a pretty game and I liked the storytelling, but it just wasn't enough. I finished the story, played as Venom for about 15 minutes and I haven't picked it up since. |
I thought ultimate spider man was awesome... never played spider man 2 though.
The controls are really hard to get used to at first, but eventually you get used to it. The actual storyline of the game is really short, you could probably beat it in a few hours of constant playing. The races are what kept me occupied for a long time though, I managed to get gold medals in everything except the insane races. The insane races are appropriately named because they are, in fact, insane. The best part of the game in my opinion was getting used to the controls. When you first start playing, the easy races seem really hard. Eventually though, you get the hang of the controls and the easy races become possible. Then you move up to the medium races and those are really hard, but then the process repeats and those become easier for you. Eventually, if you keep playing, the hard races become a piece of cake because you just *know* which buildings spidey is going to sling off of and how much momentum you need, how much height you need, etc. I really enjoyed this game. |
Go get Spiderman 2, then, and feel the awesome ;) Why oh why did they change the swinging? :(

Best 3 hours I've ever spent completing a game :P

Oh, very much so. Control over two web-lines instead of one, so it's more involved. The scale of the city is larger, too, I believe. The rest of the game is basically the same, but I can spend an easy half-hour slinging around to relax.

If Spiderman 2 would have had Ultimate Spiderman's ability to double jump, then it would've been perfect. :)
I didn't particularly care for Ult-Spidey. |
O_o
I was thinking of getting this, I appreciate all the comments on here about games.. For this one I think I will wait for it to come down in price a tad before heading out and buying it though... -_- |
