Anyone planning to get 360?
I finally got my order down today... Just got it finally ordered, now I only have to wait till the 22nd..
|
Not me. I'll probably wait a while until the PS3 and Revolution come out before deciding on anything, and I'll probably pay less, too. In the meantime, there's lots of great games for GameCube and DS to keep me occupied.
|
I'm waiting for the PS3, but even with that, I'll probably wait a while. At least until prices go down a little and they work out some of the kinks that usually come with the first generation of consoles. I still remember when XBox first came out, it used to actually get so hot that it would melt itself if left on for too long. And there were also some cases of units catching fire.
|
I hated the original Xbox on sight
However... I'm now stuck between PS3 and 360. It depends om what's going to be available for each platform. (Hmm... 360 degrees = 1 full Revolution.... strange coincidence) |
I am glad I didn't get Xbox at launch for 2 reasons:
1-That awful original controller 2-Thompson Drives |
I think me and my brother are the only people that like the XBox controller. Our hands are pretty big, so that may have something to do with it. I can't use the S controller at all...it just feels awkward.

Also waiting for the PS3.
|
waiting for the revolution before I decide anything, can't wait to see all 3 consoles in action.
|
Competing with 10 million assholes to get 3 shitty games during the christmas rush is a pain in the ass.
Wait a while and atleast some good games will be out. Hell, there probably is less than 10 worthwhile games on any of the current generation consoles. |
I'm a little uneasy about the Xbox 360 not having HD-DVD drives. They're sticking with the original DVD drives, while PS3 will have the Blu-Ray drives.
Is this not a big deal or what? I'd love to hear what you guys have to say about it. |
whats a blu-ray drive?, and im not getting the 360 since im pretty sure i can score one off my brother for free, since he'll be paying for it (he's not stealing it) although he'll probably wait for more games to come out that he'll be interested in.
|
wow, I thought the 360 was going to have the HD-DVD drives. I guess that puts them way behind and it completely changes my opinion on the 360. I thought it might be a huge jump to set the bar high for the other two next gen consoles ( which I am definitely going to buy) but it looks as if they set the bar low. Now I am probably not going to get one.
|
The drive will be HD-compatible, but will only be used for movies, not for games. Ladies and Gents, I do believe Blu-Ray will be the winning format, there.
|
Ya, if it isnt for games, I don't even understand what the point is then. :(
|
have you seen the 360 controller?? i saw a demo at my local EB and it's pretty much the same as a PS2 controller... left1 and 2. right 1 and 2. small LIKE the ps2. other stuff too but its still a nice machine. not for me though.
|
I will be getting one at the local Best Buy at midnight on the 22nd.
I am however mighty bummed that my one must have game (Oblivion ) looks to be at least 3 months away from my gaming pleasure. |
PS3 is obviously going to be the most powerful system, so I'm hoping the games for that are gonna be good but who knows this early in the game.
360 I'm gonna buy coz I am pretty sure there will be good games for it. |
I think once again, sticking with my PC is the best option. :-)
maybe a new graphics card would be nice. |

The roles may change however for the PS3 and the XBox 360, we will just have to see. |
I'm buying an xbox 360 at launch.
I'm struggling with which games to buy, I really was looking forward to Elder Scrolls IV, but oh well. Gonna go with Perfect Dark and NFS:MW probably. |
Going to wait and see what happens, but I will only get it if it can be chipped.

I'd say Halo 1&2, KoToR 1&2 is enough for me personally. Others may argue differently though. |

You know, I was going to get one at launch. Now I'm not so sure.
The backwards compatability list is a joke. If I have to keep the old x-box in the living room just to play Splinter Cell, then what's the point of the new system being backwards compatable at all (of course, you still have to buy the big bundle; look at all the stuff you get; you'd be a fool to buy all that seperately...)? It seems to me backwards compatability should be an all or nothing choice or maybe an all or just the really popular games that sold really well, but not so much the crap like 'Blinx.' Now I have no choice but to try and stack both these silly systems on a shelf that's already under buckling under the pressure of having so much shit on it if I ever want to take Sam Fisher out for walk. Hmmm, got off on a little tangent there...let's try to swing her back. Unless I see a game that I just 'have' to have at launch, I don't think I'm going to be snagging a 360 on the 22nd. The new Morrowind has been pushed back, Saints' Row might be out at launch, but who knows, Kameo looks nice, but not 'I've got to shell out $400 to play it' nice. I really think Microsoft dropped the ball on this one. It's not enough to just hype the hardware, there has to be something there to play. I don't think anyone could argue against the notion that Halo help pushed a lot of X-boxes out the door when it debuted. I just don't see anything like this coming out for the 360. I'll probably end up buying one anyway. When it comes to video games and the like, I'm 'gotta-have-it' whore, but I probably won't be standing in line at midnight with a bunch of smelly teenagers and smelly not-so-teenagers to get my hands on one. |
Nope. No new gamming machines in our house. It's hard enough prying the kids off of the PS2. It had to be disconnected so that the school marks could creep back up to respectability. Not to mention the need for physical activity...
|
Hah, $400 for a console? No thanks.
Maybe once a mod chip comes out, but till then it's just a huge money sink. You could get the lastest and greatest vid card for your PC for that amount of cash and be leaps and bounds beyond what the 360 can do. |

negative on that ghostrider. Xbox is gonna outperform any PC me, you, or 99.9999% of the board can afford. |

wish i could still buy them. |
speaking of controllers... why wont games suppot the mouse as a controller? there are games that let u use the keyboard to chat already. now all is needed is mouse support for fps games, rts games, etc.
and as for cod2 looking better on the xbox360, i was wondering what resolution it was at? is there anyway to tell? if it was a standard tv, not hd.. would it be 640x480? it is was an hd set, maybe 1024x768 minimum? |
It'd cost $1500 for a PC to be built up to that spec, true, but it must cost MS close to that to build a 360 ;) They're just taking the cost for you. Aren't they nice?
As for mouse/keyboard control, how many console gamers play at a desk? It's all couch-based, man. |

I dunno. I played COD2 in Best Buy the other day, and while it was nice, it wasn't stunning like I thought it should be. Plus, Oblivion is delayed, leaving only sports games to be outstanding release titles (I can't remember if Perfect Dark is going to be a release). I'm gonna wait til the price drop prolly.
|
The new Madden looks good, but it has less features than the PS2/Xbox versions. That's kinda sad.
Looking at the reviews that have come out already, Project Gotham Racing 3 looks like the best of the launch games. |
All of a sudden I want it. It's killing me I won't have a chance till April to walk into a store and buy it. Unless Microsoft cuts production more.
Thanks Microsoft. sooo... edit: I know there's some people around here work in game stores. Any idea when a second 360 shipment is due? |
I just played 360 on Friday, for about 2 hours at a friends place. He reviews games for a few websites, a local paper, and gets everything in advance (for free!). Got to say some of the graphics looked a bit choppy in the NBA game, I liked playing it better on the old xbox (maybe the controller I was more used to, but I thought the game was a drop smoother, and there seemed to be a drop of lag once in a while). Playing Kameo, was cool, the other chars was awesome, but I felt Kameo looked dinky. I mean you can be a flying fairy, a nice elemtal (and you can pickup and smack around the mobs with him, or toss him at others). But what was horrible was your 3rd alt form, a stupid armadillo. I did not play as long as I liked, but seemed very cool. A lot of stuff there seemed from WoW, and the graphics were really smooth. But learning to use the armadillo reminded me of prince of persia, making all the jumps perfect etc...
But basically my thought is, if you can wait a year I would wait. In most platform releases, the good games take a year to come out, and the kinks are removed etc.. I was not that impressed and I still got a lot to accomplish on my current X-Box. |
After reading some of the post here, I'm beginning to have my doubt about the 360. I've always love Xbox over PS2 (The Xbox is mine, the PS2 belongs to my brother) and now, I'm wondering if PS3 is gonna be any better than Xbox.
I'd better get my research in order before tomorrow ;) |

I don't really think Im going to break my neck to get a 360 just yet. I've seen some of the demos on the PS3 and that alone made me want to wait til Sony releases it. I'd say only the die hard XBox fans will snag a 360. I own an XBox but I just rather wait and see what Sony brings to the table before I go dropping 400 dollars on something I wished I would've waited on. God forbid if the 360 has that.....DreamCast effect :/
