The Movies
I didn't see a thread for this game yet, but forgive me if I missed it.
I've been quietly anticipating The Movies for a while now. Its being developed by Lionhead Studios. The premise of the game is to develop movies and release them to the public. You have complete control of the set, the actors/actresses that are used, the general plot and the length. The game begins in the 1920s and continues to the present day. It seems like the gameplay is a cross between the Sims and a fill-in-the-blank tycoon game. I believe there will also be an online component in which players will be able to create movies and post them for all to see. Gamespot.com seems to think the game is going to be great. It is actually pretty rare for gamespot to get this excited about a game, they usually withhold judgment until after games are released. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/...ml?sid=6135284 Anyone else excited about this game? I for one, can't wait to play it. |
I've been looking more and more into this game and I too have become quietly excited for this - not for the movie making simulation, but for the machinima possibilities (ala Red vs Blue or Strangerhood).

I sure hope it works... this could be a Black and White - amazing game environment, not enough game.
Sounds really fun though, looking forward to trying it. |
Hrm, that sounds really interesting. I'd never heard of it before, but from what I just looked up about it, I think I'll have to check it out when it comes out. Way to let me know about it! :)

I actually recall first hearing about this in the video game mags like gamepro and EGM, in 2003, and I was really excited for it back then [during my more fanboyish days :o ]. Following that, they issued a release date for it probably every few months or so, and continued to get delayed and delayed....I haven't paying not nearly as much attention as before, and when I checked out this thread, I was surprised that it seems like they're going to stick with this release date.
The game concept sounds awe inspiring, but it's pretty hard to pull off. I'll probably end up playing it eventually, probably a year or two, whenever they release a version for linux or os X. catcha back on the flipside, will. |
I'm quite interested in this game as well. Being a filmmaker, I'm really interested in seeing what I can do with this, if not just as a game, as a tool.

My review of the game:
http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthread.php?t=99426 It's for a freelance pitch I'm making, so can I get some feedback on it, please? |
