Too funny.... LEEEERRROOOYYY

Check out this video......

http://hem.bredband.net/b222680/leeroy.wmv

There is some swearing, so for that reason it could be nsfw unless you wear headphones.

CityOfAngels 06-08-2005 02:16 PM

That shit was geekishly hilarious. WTF did he say? "Alright let's do this! LEEEERROOOOOYYYY! Hnrrrggghhhgrhhhhrghhhhh!"

What game is that?

Oh yeah, by "geekishly," I mean I can relate. :p

And what'd he say at the very end? "At least I ain't chicken!"

Frosstbyte 06-08-2005 02:30 PM

At the beginning he says, "Alright chums, let's do this. LEEEEROOOOY JEEEEEEENNNNKIIINSS!"

At the end has says, "At least I've got chicken."

It's been "the thing" on the World of Warcraft forums for about the last month. Pretty hilarious.

Scorps 06-08-2005 03:22 PM

Oh ya that guy is funny as hell!

To bad he isn't on my server:D

guthmund 06-08-2005 07:28 PM

Is that the norm? To hold little meeting pow wows before the battle?

I enjoyed Leroy, but the little meeting before cracked me up a bit. Just so calm and coordinated.... calculating the percentage of survival and such.

akito 06-08-2005 07:45 PM

That's not really the norm in WoW unless you're grouped with some jackbag-scum-of-the-server like Leroy.

So many people find that hilarious, I just don't get it. It was funny for me the first time I saw it, then it just got obscenely annoying. He's a WoW phenomenon now, and that saddens me.

can we tell someone does not play a mmorpg.

some of these mobs are no joke any kind of attack or engaging of the monsters without a well planned organized attack will result in a swift death of even the largest raid force.

let leeeeroyyy jeeeeennnnkins pull some shit like that on my guild on everquest on the ps2 and we would roll to his house and beat his ass to a pulp.

bigbad 06-09-2005 01:55 AM

I think it was LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEROY DRAGONS!!! Totally hilarious, those guys seemed pretty calm though, when stuff like that goes down in my guild it sounds like a Tarantino movie on Vent

Halx 06-09-2005 03:33 AM

That's only funny if you're at that point in the game, and that actually happens. It did happen a day ago. We had a little warlock in our party who didn't speak english, so he didn't understand "Stay put!" so instead he ran around and disturbed all the dragons and brought them onto the party. Luckily, we survived.. it was pretty fun... but we kicked him out of the party for it.

I was the first to call "Oh my god, we're about to get Leeroy'd" - it got a few laughs.

wolf 06-09-2005 03:53 AM

For those of you who cannot get enough Leroy, here is the soundboard:

Nope.

I try, I really do, but every MMORPG I've tried just bores the dog snot out of me.

It's not that I don't enjoy a good RPG, I do. And it's not that I don't enjoy the MMO part, because I do. It's just something about the combination of the two that puts me to sleep.

I just thought it was funny how calm the guy was, he almost sounded bored.

"And then we're going to do this....followed by this....Does everybody have what they need?" /Ben Stein voice.

The only emotion I heard was when they were cursing poor Leroy, who seemed to be having a helluva time playing and eating his chicken.

Cuatela 06-09-2005 07:50 AM

That was great...sadly, I know people that are like that...

Disk_Pusher 06-09-2005 08:13 AM

Both my SO and I play warcraft, and we loved it, if only because we got so used to behavior like that on City of Heroes. We had a controller (low hp, low dam) who was a lord in our Supergroup (guild) who just loved running in first, then blamed the defender (healer, me) for not keeping his stupid ass alive.

God I hated Phyrell.

Not playing the game, this won't be as funny to you, but all the planning they're doing is wrong in every way. It's a spoof on the planning that people do before boss fights or major encounters. Every strategy they talk about will have exactly the opposite effect that they want it to have. Intimidating shout, for example, attracts mobs to you instead of scattering them. The percentage of survival is just for spoof/humor value. No one actually does that.

As Montana said, however, planning is essential for any boss battle from a named mob in Darkshore (Den Mother, cough cough) to Ragnaros. Running up to one and just hoping that things will work out is pretty much guaranteed death, even for the most well-equipped raid group. These encounters are designed to be challenging, and, while many of them can be made more routine with good planning and coordination, you have to set that up beforehand so that people know what they're doing.

Jimellow 06-09-2005 11:11 AM

HAHA, that was hilarious!

I love the percentage being figured out "32.33, repeating of course."

I've never played the game, but I gathered that it was an attempt at satire.. Very nice!

EDIT: HAHA, I just noticed he was AFK prior to charging to battle. :)

If you play ANY MMORPG, there are people like that :)

If I were in that clan, I would've just let him die. Haha

Yup let him die watch and laugh is what i would do :D

MahlerIsGod 06-09-2005 05:09 PM

It was funny.....the first time. Obviously, it was staged and or choreographed. A Pally is really going to forgo his Plate Armor for Cloth? Not likely. And as it was stated above, the smartest thing would have been let him die a solitary death. The voice chat and the calculating of risk are theatrical devices meant to convey the "humor." Going on a UBRS raid now means enduring endless "jokes" or references to Leeroy Jenkins. I just wish it would go away. /bitterness off

Scorps 06-09-2005 05:18 PM

He is wearing cloth armor in that video?

MahlerIsGod 06-09-2005 05:50 PM

No, the reason for the video/plan is that Leeroy wanted a pair of Devout Shoulders (a priest cloth armor set). I know quite a few Priests that would be highly upset if a Paladin got them because they never, ever drop. Ever!

boredom 06-09-2005 05:55 PM

Its getting really annoying now. Everyone wants to "Leroy" ive had to kick 3 people from a party and 2 from a guild because of it.

t3m3st 06-09-2005 11:00 PM

I shouted "Leroy Jenkins" at paint ball a few weeks ago. Charged into battle. Only my friends laughed, and I got shot to shit.

That's awesome. And if I ever go paint balling with friends who know WoW, I will shameless copy you. Because that's awesome.

I disagree. Players like that exist in EVERY game. Granted, there are several things that are particular to WoW, but idiotic teammates are eternal and almost all gaming groups have that one guy who borders on Leeroy behavior. A bunch of us are playing Guild Wars now and the same stuff happens.

I do like how Leeroy is now an urban dictionary entry.

Quote:

1. Leeroy
n.
1: One who does not grasp the concept of caution.
2: One whose success is based purely off relentless aggression and pure luck.
3: One who likes chicken.
4: One whose battle cry consists of their own name.

v.
1: To destroy all hopes of success.
2: To rush headlong into danger without regard to consequences.
3: To satisfy one's own desires at the expense of all around oneself.
- I can't believe he just tried to headbutt that dragon. What a Leeroy.

- We were doing great until that idiot totally Leeroyed us.

- The party was really boring until Bob pulled a Leeroy.

LoL. that's funny.
But what people have to realize is that these are games, and that some gamers don't share that eternal seriousness most people have while gaming.
Oh well. At LANs me and my friends fuck around all the time. If someone would try to come to our house and tell us to stick to the objectives and plan our moves we'd "roll to his house and beat his ass". Because we know when to be serious and when not to be, I guess.
Anyway, maybe thats the difference between RPGamers and other gamers. I dunno.

Tell that to all the kids in Lineage. It not uncommon for someone to get beaten down if that someone killed someone else's high level character

t3m3st 06-10-2005 08:58 PM

i read an interview with Leeroy and found a link to the Pals 4 Life homepage at http://thepalsforlife.com/

There's a bunch of other vids I have yet to check out :P

Edit: Unfortunately I have healed. Bruises are gone. But next time I'll take pictures...

ChasingAmy 06-10-2005 11:23 PM

33.3 repeating of course...

Omg he has his own clothing line now

hrandani 06-13-2005 12:10 AM

Yeah for those who aren't familiar with these types of games it was an attempt at satire.

They weren't serious. That's why it's funny. The video was originally posted by the guildeader of 'pals for life' asking for help with strategy in that room, because they couldn't beat it.

Drider_it 06-14-2005 12:15 AM

lol you do realized it was staged right.. i loved that vid but still it was staged.. ive been enough groups to know this.

32.33%? lol

every rogue would have vanished id have ran in a corner and opened a portal to sw or if and the ne would all fade. pallys would DI themselves and ran back to let the noobular die. and no one had a ss on them

I am proud to announce that I have not understood a single word of what you said...lol I feel excluded from the WoW croud. :hmm:

Actually I think he's saying "Least I ain't chicken" referring to how he's not afraid to run into a room full of dragons and die

See, I thought that too. The original poster on the blizzard boards later edited his post and stated that he said "At least I've got chicken" which is what I repeated here. I'm inclined to agree that he's saying "At least I ain't chicken" too, since that does make more sense. Consider me a parrot who might be wrong.

boredom 06-14-2005 10:54 PM

No its atleast i got chicken

MrFlux 06-15-2005 02:04 AM

Judging from the soundboard is "At least I have chicken"... no "got" in there...

dabossy2k 06-15-2005 08:27 AM

Man this dude got his ten mins thats for sure.

Zeraph 06-15-2005 02:11 PM

Well after countless references to this vid while playing WoW I had to see it. Im rather disapointed, just wasn't very funny. Oh well.

k rogues in the game toss down some flash power and go into stealth mode this makes them "invisible" and negates agro built up on them by the enviroment. hunter have feign death making them look dead for all accounts. priests have fade, this makes them semi invisible and cuts down on the agro built up by the environement. DI is divine intervention.. although i dont play a pally.. they suck donkey nutz, they have this ability that removes a chosed player from the "world" for a limited ammount of time.

as a mage yeah as long as your not in combat you can teleport or open a portal to one of the three major faction cities. this portal will stay up for a bit and anyone in your party can right click it to go through. ive done this in pvp before heh its evil but you have to be on the ball to get it off.

downside is when they all do this the hate/agro falls back on the MT=main tanks in the party. basically when something like this happens everyone backs off and tells the player to die.. we will rez you . this works as long as not one other person in the party gets a combat tag. the event resets to a point and you can continue on.

in a ubrs we had this happen only to have a fool that joined at the last minuite come flying through and brought ever single dragon welp and guardians to us when we had the general beat down to about 45%.. wanna talk about ticked.. but hey i got a nice ring before the wipe so i was happy.

t3m3st 06-16-2005 06:32 PM

The clan gets together and eats alot of KFC. He had chicken with him at the time from KFC, and had bragged about it earlier, because the others did not have chicken. Read this in that interview.

Ballzor 06-27-2005 01:00 PM

Putting far too much thought into this event.

LuciferJones 06-28-2005 10:59 PM

if any of you surf 4chan.org (www.4chan.org) there is a .swf file of all the little quotes in there.....couldn't stop laughing

Lasereth 06-29-2005 02:26 PM

My friend has it on his cell phone now. He has a really loud speaker on his cellphone. Now at work, when anyone messes up he plays the Leeroy .wav file. I laugh everytime. :)

Johnny Pyro 07-23-2005 01:19 PM

Its funny because its true. I'm like that. I don't know the, "At least I got chicken," line means. :hmm:

bonehed1 07-27-2005 01:45 PM

that is by far the funniest shit I have seen on WoW to date.....granted it was staged it still is hella funny even after seeing it 5 times..
