Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition
Greetings Everyone,
This was the game I was looking forward to today (I am sure Jade Empire is a fine game but when I played the demo I was a little under-whelmed by it. Gorgeous game but ultimately kinda boring especially the combat). My bias: I loved the second Midnight Club, really disliked the Project Gothams and really thought Burnout 3 was last years Game Of The Year (I spent a week, week and a half with Halflife 2 and haven't touched it since but Burnout is still in heavy rotation). I guess it comes down to if you liked the second Midnight Club, you will like this one. I sense a distinct parallel between this game and KOTOR 2. If you liked the game play in either of the first editions of the game you will dig the second version. There is sooooo much more eye candy/distraction that you really have to concentrate on the race or you can crash just looking at the surroundings/traffic. Overall, I give it a thumbs up. This will more than tide me over until Forza gets here in a month (God willing!!!!). I anxiously await your thoughts and comments on the game. |
Ouch. That was hard to read.
But yeah, this game looks good. Can you actually customize the cars, or do they come pre-customized? |
are there SpikeTV billboards? I recall someone in Spike legal attempting to make a deal for that...
|
sadistik: I ran into my boss today and he was raving over the customization in DUB Edition. Body kits, paint jobs, performance, looks, rims, tires... it's all there.
I can't wait to pick up my copy! I'm just a tiny bit upset that you can't get to Detroit right away - you start out in San Diego. My boss said that after 3 hours of playing he's only got 2% completion. |
The customization is awesome like no other.
I've got my 57 Chevy right now with wheelie bars, a blower, and the biggest fins on the back I've ever seen! Not to mention the sidepipes, big-ass tires, and.... ugh so much more to do! I've only got about 6 or 7% completion done so far, so I've got a long night of not sleeping ahead of me. And I forgot the coolest part! You can customize the license plates. Pick what state, or if you want a black plate on your muscle car. Pretty neat stuff. |
Sweet. Does it have the Subaru WRX? Any year, just... does it have it?

I am sorry if I wasn't clear in my example. All I meant was that in KOTOR 2 was almost an exact clone of the first. Granted, there were some graphics upgrades and some tweaks in gameplay but it was essentially the same game. The same holds true here. I played for a few hours yesterday (I haven't even made it out of San Diego yet) and I was just struck by the similiarities between the previous Midnight Club and this one. I hope that clears it up.

Ah, that explains it.

Im glad theres another midnight club game coming out, I really enjoyed Midnight Club 2, And im sure this will be a good game aswell. Although 1 thing that made me sad is that I dont think there will be any BMW`s in the game, I wanted either a 7,5,or 3 series. But other than that, the cars they have available are awesome.

My friend and I unlocked Detroit late last night, and although it's not an exact model of Detroit (obviously), we were suprised that they had a ton of elements, big and small, that made it feel alot like Detroit.
It may be a near clone of MC2, but the addition of real licensed cars and modeled cities makes this an awesome game. Oh, and the Ducatti is sweet ^_^ On a side note, did Rockstar not get a license from Ford? There's one or two Saleen Mustangs in there, but they're not called Mustangs - in fact their model is slightly changed, but you can still tell its a 'stang. Heh, even in Detroit, Ford Field is just called "Stadium", while Comerica Park (Comerica being a major bank around here) is still called Comerica. Never would've thought that Comerica would let their name be in it. |

Awesome game, I got a '57 Bel Air (my lowrider), Lotus Elise, and the starter Eclipse so far.
|
It has the Lotus Elise?!?!?
|
Yup it has the Lotus Elise, I think it has the Espirit too, I've seen a few pictures of it. Mine is pretty much stock now, as I have not unlocked the parts for the particular class of cars. Mine is black (mostly), with a red front end that has red flames that gradually turn blueish and stop around the doors. I sold the Hotmatch Custom Chopper I won and bought the Elise for around 52,000 I think.

This looks good. Been reading reviews and the screenshots do look excellent.
|
FORZA!!!! 5/3!!!!
dont fake the funk with this midnight club junk *scratch* |
I just rented this game tonight... I never played 1 or 2, but this one reallly looks good. Looks like they give you a lot of control over the cars so a weeks rental probably won't be enough.. :-)
|
I bought this game strictly because of this thread. You guys don't disappoint! I'd never played a Midnight Club game before, mainly because it looked too much like "The Fast And The Furious" and I didn't care at all for that movie.
I just got to Atlanta, with my 64 Impala, 96 Impala, Eclipse, 300M that I won somehow, a SDPD car, and a chopper, all with Kansas plates  . Most of the vehicles have full engine modification except the chopper, and police car, neither of which I've messed with too much yet. Great game! I'm certain I'll have many enjoyable hours with it! EDIT: Detroit, Atlanta... what's the difference, right? |
LOL. Every time I hear this games commercial, I always think it's saying "Midnight Club 3: DUB-ya Edition". LOL. As in Prez. Bush.

If you're from Detroit (like meeh), you'll notice right off the bat the similarities between the city of Detroit and MC3 Detroit. The streets aren't exactly where they should be, but many things are aesthetically correct. The tunnel under the "Convention Center" is correct - our Cobo Hall (the name of the convention center) has M-10 running right underneath it.
