One Armed PC Games

A friend of mine was shot in a robbery, so he is now aving some trouble using his right hand. We've been playing Warcraft 3 alot, but I've been looking for some other good LAN games that can be played with one hand.

Civilization, if your into that, I like it..
Dawn of the Modern World
Age of Empires 2 (Classic)
The Sims 2 for singleplayer
Theres quite a few ok ones by Sierra, that are multiplayer and inexpensive
Emperor
Empire Earth is ok..
But Yea, Id say Civilization if you want a real good strat game..
Superpower 2 maybe...
I donno, these games are fairly easy to use one hand, but require alot of thought, so... if you feel like being lazy dont get them :P

Man, that's rough. Can't even pump the porpoise efficiently with one hand hurt.

I'm at a loss for games though, maybe something turn based like Steel Panthers.

Medieval Total War
Rome Total War

Mr Mephisto

Yeah, basically strategy games can be done pretty efficiently with just one hand.. Hmm.. One that hasn't been mentioned and is less involved than the Total War and Civilization series but is still fun is EA's Battle For Middle Earth. MMO's and strategies are gunna be your friend..

My best friend lost his right arm in an accident years ago.

He regularly plays UT and HalfLife. He had to get a pretty decent joystick (for the left hand) and usually makes a few small changes in the .ini files and can play pretty much anything.

Now, he made a monetary investment as his disability is permanent where as your friend will likely recover shortly. nevertheless, it's not like joysticks are all that expensive.

In the mean time I'd stick to racing games. Flatout is pretty good.

Surfing for porn can be done one handed, or so I hear...

Try strategy games. Those will be the best bet. If strategy isn't his thing, Fallout 1 & 2 are both turn-based RPGs. I just cannot recommend them enough. Anything turn based that doesn't require twitch gaming skills would be great.

Oh, I just remembered Motocross Madness 2. Friends and I played it back in the day. It can be played with just a joystick. Great fun.

Could do a flight sim pretty well, esp with a head-tracker.

Jumper 2

It's free: http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=5011

DO NOT take this game at face value. This is the hardest platform game I've ever played. I dare you guys to get 100% completion in under 4k deaths.

BulletCatcher 04-03-2005 01:03 PM

Silent Hunter III can be played using pretty much just the mouse.

Randerolf 04-05-2005 11:36 AM

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I have the original Warcraft 2 -which we were wanting to play (old school)-. I looked around on TFP, but does anyone know how to play this game on a LAN?

RAGEAngel9 04-05-2005 01:18 PM

I think only the re-released Battle.Net version is lan capable.
Don't remeber though.

Coppertop 04-05-2005 01:25 PM

I played Warcraft 2 via LAN on DOS systems back in the day. So it is possible. How to get it to work today though, I couldn't really say.

charlesesl 04-06-2005 01:28 AM

Majesty, the game pretty much plays itself.

Heh, I broke my right hand a few months ago and then I went into a massive, massive FFXI binge. A lot of people hate that game but it can be controlled completely with a PS2 controller, except for typing (and on the PS2 version, you can type with the controller but it's annoying). I could only move three of the fingers on my hand but that was enough to let me use the PS2 controller... I assume it would be a lot harder if you can't use any fingers on the right hand.

Basically that's all I did though, play games that I could use my PS2 controller on... so really just emulators and FFXI... emulators can be played over LAN :P

Wasn't there a joystick by Microsoft where it could be played with only one hand? I forget what it was called but it was designed for stragety games.

spillblood 04-07-2005 07:33 PM

Emperor!!!!
but for one handed click games you have to play diablo
