Fear & Respect: GTA Killer???
Midway is currently creating a game called Fear & Respect, it is similar to GTA: San Andreas. But this game is more realistic, you can't just walk around and just shoot up the place or carry rocket launchers around in the hood.
The cool people at IGN interviewed some of the production people. Here is the link for the interview. http://xbox.ign.com/articles/587/587...html?fromint=1 SCREENSHOT http://ps2media.ign.com/ps2/image/ar...1052225448.jpg http://ps2media.ign.com/ps2/image/ar...1052222933.jpg |
Just the fact is has Snoop (that is him right?), makes me think True Crime sequel.
In which case, it may be entertaining but not really a GTA killer. |
I think this game has the potential to be really good. The developers really seem like they care about making a quality game. But the story and gameplay looks like it will be a little too "focused" to become a GTA killer.
The joy of GTA is the pure freedom you get from being able to do almost anything you can imagine. Fear & Respect looks like it will try to focus on reality, which probably doesn't include rocket packs or fighter jets. Which I think is a good thing. Too much freedom can be boring sometimes. |
Is that dude in the first photo smoking a blunt? Virtual pot, thats a new one.
|
Looks good, its more story based than GTA. You won't have a huge city like GTA, but sections of a city (or cities) from what I can gather. Seems more like a story of how its like living in the 'hood', rather than a virtual playground.
|
Yeah, I really don't think this will be a GTA killer. Probably more linear, and being more realistic, I think will take away from the fun factor too.
We'll see though. |
I think this game is kinda funny. I remember seeing the trailer on the VGAs, and when Snoop was describing it i just thought it was interesting, lets teach our kids about gang violence, how to do drive bys, and pimpin hoes. I dont have a problem personally, being that i play GTA but i just think its great what we teach kids these days.

Videogames don't teach kids; parents do. I'm sick and tired of parents trying to find scapegoats for their own poor parenting. They blame it on videogames, movies, teachers, friends, dungeons and dragons, music, books, art, the internet...just about anything or anyone but themselves. They're nothing but cowards; unable to confront their own flaws, and instead blaming it on things that have nothing to do with their own parenting results. Ignorant cowards, they are. |

Anyway, back on subject, I just don't see any game anytime soon taking GTAs crown. They have proven that there is a big market for these types of games, but so far they've been two steps ahead of everyone else. |

But yeah, I don't think it will be a GTA killer either. GTA is much too established for it to be toppled easily. |
In the screenshots it doesn't look to good.

Besides, chances are they already know it about it from friends at school. Just like we try to hide "boobs" and words like "shit" "fuck" and "pussy", that by the age of 12 they already know of. Might wanna stop em from goin to school now, eh? ;) |
Why does every 'genre-game' have to be a something-killer?
|
GTA Killer? No
Snoop Dogg carreer killer? Maybe I think it looks ok. On the one hand, it looks more realistic, which is cool. I like the nicely modeled cadillac with horrible crashing engineering, but the on-foot gameplay looks horrible the video on the link. I leave my mini-opinion with one question.... Where in the fuck is the Snoop DeVille? |

Everytime you heard the world ___killer, it really means ___rip-off.
|
I think The Godfather will be better...
|
Hi all, new here. Honestly, I don't think there will ever be a GTA killer, just as there will never be a Zelda Killer or Final Fantasy killer. There will always be games that define a certain genre and there will always be games that wanna change or impact that genre.
|
yeah... as sk8975 said
i dont think it will be a killer but i would get it.... looks like a pretty good game if you look at the trailer |
I work at a video game store, and unfortunately I can see lots of 10-13 year old boys coming in with their dads wanting this game when it comes out...
