MontanaXVI 03-07-2005 05:18 PM

Well, Sunday at football practice I broke my wrist. No racing for me for a long time :(

I used a civic hatchback (yeah i know, everyone gets it) but it kills the competition when you get the NA buildup.
*in the FF race in beginner and the Civic Race in the Honda Menu i easily beat the races

Pretaining to the picture quality,
The backgrounds in the game ARE real pictures. And if you are dissapointed with the picture quality of the game i recomend getting component cables. I plan on getting them soon but i've seen GT4 w/ component cables and its pretty clear IMO.

ElwoodBlues 03-07-2005 07:26 PM

for FF I used a lightly modded (stock except for nitrous) 98 Taurus SHO. Worked just fine

ElwoodBlues 03-10-2005 06:45 AM

well I'm back at it again. Had to start it all over, so I'm doing everything right this time. Got my B, A, and iB license with all Silver. Now I just gotta get back that SLR

IC3 03-10-2005 11:02 AM

I haven't really even been playing it anymore...Gotta try to get back into it.

RoboBlaster 03-10-2005 01:01 PM

I am on Spring Break right now (yeah, I know, it is a bit early), and I am not looking forward to school starting back up and keeping me away from all the racing. It's amazing the level of depth a racing game can have. I have always thought of the Gran Turismo series as an RPG on wheels.

dirtyrascal7 03-10-2005 04:07 PM

FYI -- during days 694-701 you can buy the sweetest cars in the game. they are used le mans cars (mazda 787b, toyota gt-one, nissan r92cp, and another nissan). so they cost about half as much as the new ones cost, but are just as fast... and the best part... they're all jet black! they look SO badass. better save up though... they cost about $8million total. :)

kurty[B] 03-10-2005 04:09 PM

thanks dirtyrascal, that's good to know!

definitely get the civic hatch. mod it and race it in FF races and then do the Civic Challenge under HONDA.
The car you get from the Civic Challelenge can be sold for like 95k to you can make some quick money early on that way.

Spartak 03-10-2005 09:49 PM

I've got it.

My car of choice right now is the Holden Monaro @ 675 BHP and NOS. I'm still doing the licences (half way through iB as we speak), but that SLR is looking mighty tempting.

boothisman 03-10-2005 11:14 PM

greatest driving game evar

jwoody 03-11-2005 03:33 AM

A couple of days in and I must have restarted about five times at least, after becoming unhappy with my choice of motor.

I'm trying a different approach now; seeing how far I can get without buying any cars or modifications. It's going pretty well so far. I've got all the licenses done, completed the driving missions and the beginner races. I don't think I can go much further, though, before I crack and spend all my credits on something beautiful but impractical (again).

yeah you're gonna have to start tapping into your funds for the professional league races.

Get a Subaru Legacy. Go to the rally track, I forget which one it's the Mediterranean one, win both races, sell the rally car they give you for 265k. Repeat until desired.

Although my best car currently I got for winning some races. It's a Nissan with 910 BHP and a power to weight ratio of 1.477.

I'm Really Enjoying the B-Spec mode, free 200,000 of an endurance race! With a nice car to top it all off, turn on playstation set to lvl 4 (Fast) push triangle to pass, than go to sleep, in the morning a new car and some money, fun :)

lol

I should do that too.

Does anyone know what A spec points are for?

userasdf1234 03-27-2005 04:05 PM

I think the A spec points are just for bragging rights because if you just use an insanely fast car against not so powerful cars you'll recieve less a spec points. Its just so you can compare with your friends and such. This is what i read on another site at least.

Halx 03-27-2005 04:14 PM

A good way to get a-spec points.. race with a medium good car against awesome cars on the Fuji Speedway. There is a kink in the track along the long curve... you can actually blast through that without losing much speed at all, while the AI of the computer makes all the cars slow down and navigate the rather large detour.

i think the best way is to do those "driving challenges"
for each one you get something like 250 A-Spec points, and the first 10 are pieces of cake :)

fugue_life 04-05-2005 08:50 PM

hmmmm, so i have an hdtv Sony television that I can't get anything more then a black screen on when I try to switch the game to hi resolution, do I need to run the game thru a htdv converter box to get it to work? Anyone, thanks

indebut 04-05-2005 09:59 PM

what is everyone's completion % ? I think I am sitting right around 33 percent done...it's been a week or so since I played...it was getting to be a little much playing 2-4 a night for a month! I am on day 630 or so , and I'll be getting all of the black cars when day 694 hits..I think I have something like 10-11 million saved up.

Seanland 04-05-2005 11:22 PM

im at like 38% havent played in acouple weeks though... should start playing again =)

desal75 04-09-2005 04:51 PM

So far this game seems much more difficult than GT 3. It just seems like having the most powerful car in the race is no longer a guarentee of victory. Plus the sheer number of new tracks is very daunting. It is so hard to learn the proper line right off of the bat. Especially when your car is an understeering monster like the one I am currently using.

Agave 05-09-2005 02:17 PM

Just bought this game today, but it won't load. ( ps2 is model 50001 ). With disc in, brand new mind you, get the screen " Please insert a Playstation or Playstation 2 formatted disc. ".
Called sony, they're wanting me to return both the PS2 & game for fixing, but all other games that I have work without fault. PS2 is only like 8-9 months old, and the disc is literally brand new, less than an hour.

Anyone know anything?

Seanland 05-09-2005 09:50 PM

yea, i heard some of the games were hooched.. my first copy was fucked to.. just return the game get a new one, and it should be fine :)

Agave 05-09-2005 10:19 PM

Returned it, swapped for same title, same deal. I can understand a random disc not working, but 2 from the same batch? . . . It can't be the machine, if all other titles I have work flawlessly, right? Just some incompatibility with the 50001 series?

Jesus Pimp 05-10-2005 03:20 AM

Get Forza.

lite campfire 05-10-2005 02:46 PM

Yeah, it's probably your PS2, not the game.
On mine even GTA:VC (another dual layer game) runs fine, but GT4 has frequent loading problems. My PS2 is pretty archaic though, strange that your new one wouldn't load the game at all.
Send it to Sony if they're offering (and you can live without it for a week or two).
