Seeking Firaxis fans

Firaxis, the brain child of the game god Sid..

Ive met only a few people who played Alpha Centauri and Alien Crossfire.. But those I have met are such ardent fans that the game is seen as mostly perfect.. We play non stop, and its had more playing time then any other game now..

Any other fans out there???

I really enjoyed Alpha Centauri, but didn't get as sucked into it as you seem to have. But when Pirates! comes out late next year... well, I'm going to be saving up vacation time!

I've never played Alpha Centauri. I've heard many good things about it. I will definately pick it up. I've been hooked on Civ 3. I also can't wait for Pirates. I loved the original, and wondered why they never remade it.

Sid is a perfectionist I think, and he needs to work through things very closely before they get released. Thats why I really like Firaxis games, because they never have huge bugs..

Civ 3 = greatest game I have ever owned (well, "owned" may be stretching it a little, but I'm not going into that...)

Thats the other thing about Firaxis.. Other companies, I haev no problem with "borrowed" versions.. MS games, EA.. but there are a couple of game studios where I feel that I have to support them.. Firaxis and Bullfrog are the two that come to mind right away

Yeah...I have no job, so once I can get a steady income a legit Civ 3 is one of my priorities.

NUNS WITH GUNS!

I'm a Believer for life.

Alpha Centauri introduced me to "hot seat" multiplayer and eventually lead me to the LAN party. I owe it a great debt.

I don't know if I have ever played a Sid game I didn't like? Thats going all the way back to F-19 Stealth Fighter too. Pirates! Gold was one of my favorites as a kid, along with Silent Service on NES . Civ2 and Civ3 both stole way too many hours of my life. Everytime I get on a plane flight still, I make sure I have a laptop with Civ3 installed on it.

I've never played Alpha Centauri but I should probably try to find a copy. Question - I know Microprose made Master of Orion, but was that a Sid game, or just based off of the original Civ?

AC was some hot stuff. My buddy and I bought it around dinner time one night, went back to my place, and played single together until we realized the sun had come back up. True story. That game was crazy addictive. My only beef was multiplayer took so LONG. I never played Civ 3, but I remember playing one of the earlier ones on a Mac at school -- that was good stuff.
