RPG Suggestions? (GC and JP Ps2 only)
After an almost 2 year hiatus from videogames in general, I've picked up Zelda: Wind Waker and finished it in less than a week. Now, I'm looking for a good rpg (preferably turn-based) for either GameCube or Japanese PS2 (if there's an english or international version, that's better, but it's ok if there isn't). I already have FFX International, so that's out. Any suggestions?

tales of symphonia, not turn based but a good game nonetheless
|
yeah i was looking at that game actually, but the fact that you only control one character in battle turns me off a bit
|
meh, you get used to it, plus if you wanted to you could play multiplayer in battles (with controllers not that gba connection crap)
|
I think tales of symphonia is the best game i've ever played. You have control over all of the characters to a point, although only one in real time, like you can pause and tell any character to cast a certain spell. It has such a long involved story. It's like a 60 hour game.
|
If you're after turn-based, though, Gladius is an awesome epic RPG. Really under-rated, not the best to look at, but deep and meaty. If I could only find a PAL copy...Grrr.
|
If you're into Lord of the Rings at all, LotR: The Third Age is a pretty decent game. It's incredibly easy, all around, and linear, but still very fun gameplay. If you could find a used copy, it would be worth it.
I second Tales of Symphonia. That is genuinely an excellent RPG, and very replayable if you're of the packrat mentality (lots and lots and lots of stuff to collect). |
Why not Disgaea? It's turnbased. I'm sure there's a Japanese version.

Sure, here's my picks:
Phantom Brave for PS2, If you like Final Fantasy Tactics, yoou dig this. I'm sure you can fine one from the land of the rising sun. And for the GC: Baiten Kaitos, I hope that's spelled right. I played this at E3. Cool battle system. Uses cards in a real time battle for offence and defence. |
I can vouch for Galdius.... Baiten Kaitos looks pretty cool too, and Paper Mario is supposed to be great as well.
|
Not really a RPG for the GC but animal crossing is so god damned addictive you may not care that its an rpg, plus you can unlock old NES games like Zelda, punch out, and many others.
|
Since you wanted to know a lot of RPG's for a japanese ps2 im assuming you can read japanese fairly well.
JP PS2: Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne Suikoden 4 Shining Tears Dragon Quest 8 (be sure to pick up the special controller) StellaDeus Soon to be released: Hanjuku Eiyuu 4: The Seven Hanjuku Eiyuu. Radiata Story Kingdom Hearts II Thats all i can think of for now.. Gabatte ne! |
tales of symphonia
Paper Mario (yes it rules) |
