				Play Station 2 problem
Hey guys. Long time ago I bought a Japanese playstation 2. It is one of the 10000 version. I cant play american dvd's on it. I hear that if you have the 1.0 utility disk you can play any dvd but I have the 1.01 version that cant do that. Does anyone know where I can get a v1.0 utility disk for the PS2? |

| Squid hat! Location: A Few Miles Away From Halx | I would say to go to an internet auction site. But heres the main problem - The Japanese PS2 cannot play Region 1 (USA) DVD's because it was designed to only play Region 2 (Japan) DVD's. If you had a Region 0 (anywhere) disc, you would be able to play it. It is possible to play Region 1 DVD's, but it isn't foolproof. You are better off buying a cheap DVD player for less than 100 dollars, and using that. The PS2 just isn't a great way to play DVD's. It lacks a good remote control (sold separately).
