it takes getting used to.. i went from human dps mage at wow start to horde belf pally uber tank supreme now. Though yeah its annoying in some fights where you have to kite the boss, like globby. Or, lol you snag something or back into a wall. Most trouble ive had so far is H UP on that damn dragon rider. We heh.. we start it then run back into the hallway and wait. Kill till we get enough harpoons then run back to the wall from the last boss and reset. Then i get all HoT up and run in with my bubble active pulling everything to the end. Then just hit my ground aoe and holy wrath when its up. Holds them all in the far end room till the boss drops down. Like i said .. having an endless mana pool helps.

I wouldn't trade my tank job for anything. My only other toon i really play anymore is my shadow priest. and that in itself is a sad joke. Vamp touch sw: pain mind blast gets my mana coming back and a mind flay .. mob is dead. Just very boring.

I've started getting into some endgame tanking with my death knight and I just switched from unholy to frost. I have never been so happy with making a switch change in the entire history of playing this game. Frost has by far the most fun mechanics I have played with in a long time. Huge frost strikes, free howling blasts, obliterate crits. Wow, it's unbelievably fun. I thought I'd be a dedicated unholy dk for sure, but I've certainly been proved wrong. I think my long term single target dps is probably a bit lower, but I wouldn't trade my snap aggro and group abilities for it for a second. Also, my DK's name is Frostbite, so it's somewhat more appropriate.

I think maybe getting death's bite helped, too! Mmmmmmmm....

I think I hit the crit cap.. 109.97% :) I still can't top dps on Loatheb :(

holy crap! so many new things to learn. I dropped it in June 2008 and so much has changed. I also deleted my character and wanted to see if Blizzard would give it back to me. so I can start leveling at 70 instead of 55. for some reason on my account, the highest level I have is 26, but it still let me build a death knight. so that is cool. maybe my deleted toon was still "attached" to my account? who knows.

all I know is that DK's are fun to play, though I would like to see if they can get my Lock back.

You can start a DK on any server you want now...I kinda hate it but at least I can play on a friends server as a horde DK, lvling from 1 is slow.

I am looking at some of these screen shots and an liking the layouts of the addons. who is using what addons for the actionbar setups? I am curious.

I'm using Bartender. It does pretty much anything you need it to.

I dinged 80 yesterday morning while questing in the Storm Peaks. 79-80 was a slog through the Fleshwerks in Icecrown and the questline around Brunnhildar Village in Storm Peaks. Gotta say the Drakkensryd quest had to be one of the coolest quests I've done.

Now I can take a break and focus on my cooking and fishing achievements.

Drakkensryd is WAY better as a melee class. I hated doing it on my hunter, but it was gloriously awesome on my deathknight.

you can shoot the mobs from your dragon and get them low enough to just harpoon over and melee once or twice...at least so says my hunter friend.

It wasn't that bad with the warlock. I can take a beating, but I didn't have to--I just feared them, dotted them up, and typically managed 1-2 shadow bolts before the fear either ran out due to damage or time. That was usually enough to kill them.

I find 70-77 to be a long grind once I get my epic flyer's back I lvl fast, Got my rogue to 77 last night so it will not be long till she is 77 and I can start back on my shaman which I parked because my rogue is my miner, Need to fund another epic flyer (number 4) I hate to go slow once you get the taste of fast you can't go back :P

We've been working hard to get the Glory of the raider achievements done in normal and heroic modes. We got the Undying tonight in 10man naxx and 3 drake Sarth last Tuesday. I'm hoping we can pull it out before they remove the rewards. There's still a few tough achievements to get though so who knows.

I finally got to 25 Naxx last night and did the 4 horsemen. I was actually about to start a BT run for the final 2 bosses, but got called in by some friends. It was a fun run. I forgot how much I like fighting the larger instances in larger groups. Wiped about 4 times total... but it was still a good run. Slowly gearing up into purples.

They taking the OS and maly ones out also?

We got are first blue drake from 10 man maly last week, are guild has no luck in mounts dropping, kaels never dropped in TK and we downed him a lot. We are still working hard on 3 drakes just got 2 drakes down, not bad for a casual guild.

Theyre not taking any ACHIEVEMENTS out; they're just taking the proto-drake mount AWARDS out from Glory of the Raider and Heroic: Glory of the Raider.

I think it'd be better if they left them in but made them 280 speed instead.

I completely agree. These achievements are two of the hardest PVE achievements in the game and removing the rewards takes away any incentive to complete them. I definitely think they should put in new drakes, with the same model if necessary, at 280% speed to match the speed of the time-lost, blue, green or red protodrakes. Even after 3.1 they'll still be more rare than the other proto-drakes.

I've considered picking up tailoring on this character just to have the flying carpet. Once I get closer to the 100 mounts achievement I might actually do it. I'm still about 30 mounts away at the moment though. :)

So we were on Kel'thazud this week and working on the Immortal Achievement for no deaths. About 60% he MCs and does the threat wipe. Our tank taunted as fast as he could but Kel got off a frost bolt that smacked me for 33k. I heard my threat meter warn me about threat and before I had time to Feign death I was a goner.. sigh.. At least I wasn't the only one that died, but being the first has pretty much made me a target for the jokes :)

The only thing that really sells as a tailor is the special cloth like Ebonweave.

I moved my druid to another server to raid way back in the original Naxx days. That was when Silvermoon only had one good guild, Ilterendi. I rolled a Pally of the same name because I was bored. And here I am.

Apparently it doesn't mean much to be the best geared bm hunter anymore these days, because....I still have a lot I need to pick up.

I guess the new hunter spec is survival I hate it, but I got other alts to have fun with :)

Raiding tips for newbs
 

I think I need to start raiding soon, as I'm getting high up in levels, which means questing and smaller instances will be limited.

I've never done a raid.

Other than 5-man instances and questing, I've done a couple battlegrounds: Arathi Basin and Alterac Valley. But only once or twice each. It was confusing with all the people running around. There was no organization that I could see.

I think I'd like to start with one of the 10-person raids and see how it goes. I understand that pickup games are difficult to run with 25+ raids with the lack of organization.

Any help/tips, etc., in regard to finding raids, starting raids, or running them would be awesome.

I'm a level 73 holy priest, and it's my first character. I'm currently working on Northrend quests/instances.

I find that the 25 man raids like VoA after wintergrasp and 25 OS are pretty simple and easy for beginners. They are good primers to get you started and comfortable with many people. The 10 mans are simpler, but you have to be better because you have to pull your DPS/healing weight.

A friend that hates raiding was surprised that 10/25 man VOA was over in 20 minutes.

First of all, you should/can only raid when you've reached max level. Raiding lower level content is a waste of time because you'll out-level the gear you get in a day.

Second, raiding is part knowledge, part coordination. Whatever role you play, make sure you know how to play it. Then make sure you know what to do in each situation.

Third, make sure you have the time to raid. Nobody wants someone who will only raid once every few weeks. Nobody wants someone who doesn't spend any effort preparing for it. Its a team game, so you gotta uphold your end of the bargain

depends on the guild. some are 3 days a week, some like 5.

Yah the raids reset on tuesdays. The guilds I associate with do Wed/Sat for 10man and Fri/Sun for 25man runs, with OS and VoA thrown in whenever.

I raid Tues, Wed, and Fri that's the 25-mans the 10-mans are get a group and do it when ever :D

my guild is casual but the hardcore guilds on my server run 6-7 days a week.

So, um, any horde guilds recruiting? I gquit my guild last night.. Probably dumb considering Sarth 3 drake 10man was scheduled this week which is the only difficult achievement I had left for the Glory of the raider. Sigh..

Has anyone got a Time-Lost Proto Drake yet?

I'm currently trying to get myself the spirit beast. The drake will be my next goal after I finally get this one. Hopefully. I think my brain is dribbling out of my ears at this point.

We expect to get Sarth 3D (25-man) down this week. That's not bad, you know... this being our 4th week of raiding. Last week, we managed to down Shadron on several attempts, but the adds respawned before we could make progress past that.

Finally built this baby last week.

And Loque'nahak is mine! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That is without a doubt the most time I have dedicated to single-mindedly doing something in this game in the over four years that I've played. I cannot tell you what a relief it is to know that I will never have to make endless circles around Sholazar spamming a macro again. I named him Karma and I'll post a picture when I'm not feeling kind of overwhelmed.

I finally made it to that wow-heroes website. I'm 21 overall on server and #6 hunter. I think at that point it all comes down to luck and poor ranking system. Comparing myself to the #1 hunter on my server, He uses a 213ilvl trinket, I use the best in slot Greatness trinket which is only ilvl 200. He uses the best in slot helm which has never dropped for my guild and he uses a better cloak that I just haven't had to chance to get yet.

I also have a better spec than him but he may be pvp specced atm so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. :)

I got Glory of the Raider last night. We zerged 10man Sarth with 8 DPS, 1 tank, 1 healer and downed him before the 2nd drake landed. It wasn't even close to the fastest kill but it was only the 2nd attempt of the night. I'm definitely enjoying the 310% mount speed.. Sadly I had to retire my Cenarian Hippogryph.

"of the Alliance/Horde" is for 100,000 (yes, that's one hundred thousand) honorable kills.

I dunno why you wouldn't wear your Field Marshal title after working so hard to get it back in the day :p To this day i have yet to take off my Grand Marshal title. Very few titles in wow these days actually mean something. I wouldn't give up that field marshal one so quickly. :)

Patch day!!! I've never looked forward to a patch day before, but I am really interested in dual spec.

My guild got Twilight Vanquisher last night. We did it the old-fashioned way, too. No VW tank. No 80-second speed kill. We're quite proud of ourselves considering we've been raiding as a guild for less than 2 months.

Dual spec is a system that allows you to switch between 2 different talent specs whenever you want.

Does anyone have an alternate link to the patch? The Blizzard Downloader claims I'm behind a firewall, but Blizzard's site is apparently down for maintenance. I'm looking for one now but my search hasn't been very promising so far.

Man, patching took forever, and then the world server kept crashing, but two good things happened last night: I managed to purchase a white kitten from Lil' Timmy, and I got to do the new fishing daily! I'm excited for some of the changes they've made to both cooking and fishing.

not in the middle of a fight, it rests your resources like mana/rage, so you have to do it before combat and entry into BGs or Arenas

We didn't get home until late, so I didn't have enough time to do much. I setup my dual spec, even though I didn't know what the 2nd spec will be. I also had to of course figure out which mods were broken. I don't really use many mods, so it wasn't that difficult.

And of course, I had to test out the new spec Suvival with the Black Arrow.

Time will tell.

Shouldnt rush your self to dual spec until you get the first one balanced.
One thing I noticed, you HAVE to take Black arrow to get Explosive shot, so methinks its used to compensate the hunters who don't trap-dance for LnL procs.

Secondly, when you do your 2nd spec, use it to play the other style you feel that will balance your style to a more complete package attractive for raids.

This is a new hunter spec I just made up and was thinking about trying:

if you are short on haste, take the one point out of wyvern sting and throw it into imp aspect of the hawk, then replace the glyph for the 2 sec reduction on aimed shot and use the glyph of imp hawk

This spec would give you tons of crit, a huge amount of AP, and decent survivability from some of the surv talents. Not completely sure about the rotation yet, the timing might be a little off...

What are you planning to do with that spec? I honestly believe that Hybrid hunters, Especially MM/Surv is impossible to make competitive with current talents. Both specs rely too much on their 51 point talent. If you're really interested it how it would perform you should run the spec through the spreadsheet and see what you get. I would but my excel trial expired :P

I was wondering about that too, you have too much of your points all over the specs but not enough to help sustain damage in a talent.

Too much bells and whistles but not enough punch. You ARE going to have to nail 51+ points somewhere if you really to be able to take full advantge of the spec you choose.

you are both correct. There are too many top tier talents that I had to end up taking to actually be effective. But I have tried it out, and it does excel somewhere... PvP!

Ive always been a Beast master nut but with Dual spec im going to give Survival it's chance to shine... LoL thank got for Call stabled pet because my Spirit Beast goes to cry in a corner when exotic pets get pwned :)

You should have been Survival in 3.08 patch. It was so much better. Kill shot wasn't on the global cooldown so you could macro it to your shots, There was no Black arrow blowing your trap cooldowns. You only had around 47 DPS talents in the tree so you could get fun stuff like extra range or scatter shot and you only needed 51 points in the tree and you could spend the rest getting things like improved stings, aimed shot, or go down BM and get focused fire. I'm currently sticking with BM for raiding. I go survival only for pet unfriendly fights and for questing because the burst damage is still ridiculous.

I love that call stabled pet cooldown refreshes when you switch your talent tree :)

Okay I was reading the Argent Tournament quests and achievements....

there's a Tilted Achievement.

And I have it! One of the first things I did when it came out. I'm not necessarily a huge fan of the jousting mechanics overall, but I've gotten pretty good at them.

I like how the GM's now seem to be more laid back then they did a couple years ago, might just be Windrunner...
