Play UT2004 it has better vehicles and weapons.
They killed Tribes. T2 may have had allot of bugs and wasn’t quite complete but it had so much depth to it and was very innovative for its time. I think it had the most potential of any shooter ever made. They should have expanded on T2 instead of making a Quake clone. The franchise will never recover after Vengeance, Tribes is dead and it’s such a shame. . |

I have a friend that's a diehard tribes fan (1, 2, and Vengeance).
UT2004 is a very similar counterpart, and imo, a much better game.

I bought it and passed, but when I tried to play it online, it said product key already in use...like WTF? The only reason I bough the freaking game was so I wound't have this problem. AND the sierra help page doesn't work. But for the story mode it kicked ass.

I also played Tribes 1 base back in the day, and I preordered T:V but still haven't picked it up. Was too busy for the first few weeks and honestly the fan reaction hasn't made me too excited. I played it throughout beta and it seemed like it might finally be the game that brought the Tribes community back together but it looks like that's not possible. Using the UT engine perhaps wasn't the greatest idea either. It seems the T2 people don't like it because they took out all the extra stuff and vehicle power that the Dave Georgeson team added, and the T1 people don't like it because it's not T1 and nothing will be as good as T1 for us/them. But I'll eventually pick it up and hopefully get some good play time out of it as I eventually did out of T2 even though I didn't play that at all right after release either.

Tribes:Vengeance is my introduction to the series, but I think it kicks ass. I am working through the single-player story (it's loong by my standards) and I have been "stuck" about 3 times. Learning is required, especially learning to keep moving, jet combat style. T:V is a challenge, and I gotta say overall I've been bored waiting for the next Riddick game, but T:V has my full attention..OOOh shit- That's not healthy..

I enjoyed t1 and t2 because there was a ton of variations to strategy, and they also had learning curves into the range of hours. Anytime a fps game has a curve longer than an hour, it tends to scare people away. But for a true team based game, the tribes series takes the trophy any day.
