Is it legal for me to play online poker at age 18 even though I'm from California?

Don't quote me on this, but off the top of my head I think it is legal to play online depending on what your state or federal law says. Check out the website, that will be sure to give you more details.

I don't think it's legal to play poker online in general... the whole thing is a legal nightmare. Mosf ot the sites, though, are hosted outside of the US and in any event no one is going to come and prosecute you for playing online. Especially if the site your playing at has offshores servers - the legal issues there are very complicated and not at all ironed out.

i'd say play, if you win enough you can get yourself a top lawyer and counter any legal charges brought against you.

I don't think it's legal. They should give you a warning like "if you are under the legal age to gamble in your state or country then don't enter..." or something similar.

BUT... Who's to say it's not your dad or over 21 friend playing... It's not like they have proof you're the one playing.

No one is going to prosecute you because the laws that are in place now are not clear, so go play.

Not sure but by the letter of the law probably not. What I think the law or contract that you sign on the internet is, is that you have to be 18 years old and be legal from whereever you are playing from. In your case you probably are not legal until 21 I believe. But in terms of the site letting you play they will at 18 or whatever age they ask you to verify you are.
