Which RPG should I play next?
 

Now that I've beaten Final Fantasy 6, which one should I spend countless hours on next?

You could just step up to FF7(which is what I voted for) but you could also go for Chrono Trigger/Cross. All three are sort of required RPG experience.
Also consider Skies of Arcadia...if you have a DC or GC.

Any of the FF games are a safe bet as long as you don't pick up Final Fantasy X-2: Dress-up Barbie!

I'd agree with some of what Kadath said and go for Crono Trigger.

Chrono Trigger, FF7, and Wild Arms 1 are all A++ console rpgs.

Chrono Trigger (It's short) then Chrono Cross

Then jump into FF7, or FF9 (FF9 was my dark horse pick.... Fuck I love that game)

Can't go wrong with FF7, whatever you do don't play Unlimited Saga. I know someone who rented it and I was watching, the looks and gameplay are horrible.

Chrono Trigger. It's peachy. And one of the best games of the 16 bit era.

I'd go with FF2 then FF7. Both great games.

I played summoner, the original not the sequal (which I heard was horrid). Got it for $15. It's not bad. Starts off REALLY slow. But ends well...

Ok, 12 votes, total, with it being a tie between Chrono Trigger and FF7. What I'll do is flip a coin 12 times. If I get 7 or more heads, it will be Chrono Trigger. If I get 7 or more tails, it will be FF7.

Final Fantasy IX. Though if you're looking for something different from VI, try VII first. Final Fantasy IX is like VI kind of.

Anything But FABLE. I know it wasn't on your list, but I felt I should warn you. It's short, semi-boring, and not as great as it was made out to be.
other than that I'd say Crono trig, FF, or BOF

FF7, and dont play unlimited saga, its the worst game ever made. Either chrono game is awesome, but if you havent played 7, play it all the way through, and if you touch chrono, make sure you do trigger before cross.

Chrono Trigger is in the RPG canon for a good reason. It isn't quite like any other game out there. It's an excellent game and I envy anyone who's going through it for the first time.

FF7 was revolutionary in its time for all the cinematic bells and whistles that they put on it (the game is well on its way to being 10 years old) but in retrospect I don't think the game is really all that great. Good, yes, and worth a playing through, but not on the level of FF6 or Chrono Trigger.

all this talk of old games made me start final fantasy 4 (US 2) again this morning. I am at the dark elf now, i love this game.

Summoner is an awesome game with a good story line. I haven't played other FF games other than FFX.

I would strongly recommend Summoner. Summoner was quite a bit of a let down, kind of like FFX-2

Just finish as many of the final fantasy games as you possibly can. Chrono Trigger included.

You should get an Xbox and wait for Jade Empire! *grin*

Hahahaha. Well, I strongly recommended Summoner to myself as the only RPG-looking game at the PS2's launch...and it was quite a bit of a let down.

Not a very good game.

I was not able to specify more than one. My choices would have been Wild Arms (any of em are kinda cool and old school) but I had to go with FFVII

that game does, has, and always will kick ass in a major way.

i'd say neither and play Legend of Dragoo. It has so-so graphics, but the storyline is good. out of the list, play Chrono Cross. It will keep you occupied due to the many characters and techs.
