Just read a blurb about an upcoming sequel in the works from Square Enix on Ign, they don't know what kind of game it will be but believe it takes place three years after ffvii and vincent is the main man. Anyone else getting giddy like a school girl besides me?? :) He was the one character in FFvii that I really wish they would have explored more. Now only if they would make a movie about the "Steven" guy in Braveheart...

Yep, it's official for a Japanese release at least (in other words, it WILL come out in the US :) ). Just ONE screenshot turned me into the schoolgirl fugue_life mentioned:

It sounds like a decent spinoff to me. It's supposed to be a DMC-like game (shooter) and I love DMC so it's win win for me. :D

Maybe it's to compliment the upcoming Advent Children (movie?)? There's a screenshot of that with Vincent in it. Plus, too bad it's a spinoff and not an actual sequel. Spinoffs tend to, well, suck.

Well yeah, especially if you're expecting them to be true the original game which it was spawned from. But once you get over the fact and realise it's not meant to be a full-on serious game like the original one you shouldn't be disappointed by it, well unless the game itself is actual garbage. :p

Not sure which Final Fantasy themed thread to throw this one in, but as this is the top one at the moment, here goes my question. I saw on one of the G4 shows the other day that Square is planning on making an <i>actual</i> sequal to FF7 (No, I don't mean this project or Advent Children). Anyone heard anything about this, or are these guys as full of it as I think they are?

There have been FFVII sequel (an actual game) rumours for as far as I can remember, whether or not they're 100% true, I do not know.

I did a (small) bit of digging around, and found this. I hadn't heard of this before, and kinda hope this isn't what the dopes at G4 were talking about...

We anxiously await, we're sure with most IGN readers, any future Final Fantasy VII-related announcements.

I found this on <a href="http://www.ffonline.com">ffonline</a>, which sent me to an IGN link. I'm not really sure what to make of this, to be honest. Another article on that site mentioned that it might not be available in the US, because of the limitations on cellphone hardware. Apparently to get a certain color of materia, they want you to take a picture of something that color (using your phone). A little strange, if you ask me. Has anyone else heard anything about another FF7-ish project?
