The thread in Entertainment made me think of this one. Who's the most badass videogame characters ever? I can think of a few that are simply <B>badass</B>.

Allow me to reiterate that this thread is about video game characters who are very badass, not just cool.

Auron, Sam Fisher, Payne, any character I've ever made in a RPG, The Marine from doom's, and Quake's main guy (1 and 2). These all give the "dont fuck with me" badass feeling. Payne and Auron have the best attitude of them all I think.

Jacques Blanc from Onimusha 3 I thought was increidbly bad ass.

Samus Aran too, despite the fact she doesn't speak she's so freakin' bad ass even beasts 30 times her size will feel her pain.

Akuma and Ryu are so bad ass that you could break cheese on their abs.

The genetically enhanced solider Master Chief can clean up all sorts of shit, really helps to understand this if you read the novels too.

The others have already been mentioned, Sam Fisher, Solid Snake, Tommy Vercetti, Max Payne, Samanosuke, Ninja...

If you play DoA beach volleyball you will see some "badass" characters in bikinis =)

I say Agent 47 from Hitman, the guy is ruthless, cold, and the perfect assassin, one of my favorite characters in video games...

tommy vercetti... gta vice city.... this guy is my hero... steals cars boats helicopters bikes... beats up pl on the street gets a lil sumthin sumthin from the hookers cant wait for gta san andreas and the new character and his buddies that ride with him

i am surprised but how is it no one has mentioned anyone from samurai showdown? i mean that series has the MOST bad-asses of any series; out them all tho its to me a close battle between Genjuro and my original favourite Jubei for the title.
also no sagat from street fighter? i mean even with the many changes that guy went thru in the many sf games he is at least up there with ryu and ken (not akuma tho hes just in a class by himself)

Can't forget my man Vincent Valentine, so bad ass he got tired of being a bad ass and went to sleep in a coffin for a few years or so :)

what about Ash from the evil dead games, sure they suck but Bruce Campbell is the ultimate hollywood bad ass

What I was looking for in 'badassness' was how I was able to do with a character that I actually played as.
Kazooie had some incredible moves she could perform, all the while with a bear on her back.
With P. Peach I was able to beat every person I raced, and most of the computer racers, too.
And Mario, he had some supercool acrobatic moves, and he sported an all-purpose hat with which he was able to kick beaucoup ass.

So, in my opinion, all 3 are badass. :thumbsup:

Cloud and Sephiroth are the best by far. Sephiroth is the best bad guy ever.

Bad guy: Robot Hitler from Castle Wolfenstein. I got that game when I was like 8, and nothing - nothing - is more badassed than a cybernetically enhanced, gatling gun toting robo-Hitler.

Good guy: Kyle Katarn from Jedi Knight II. He's a wimp at the beginning, but man, nothing kicked ass like using the jedi tricks (dropping guys off ledges, killing 10 at a time with lightning attacks).

My character in Morrowind after completely leveling him up and with a full suit of Deadric armor and a the Deadric Crescent. I've killed everyone in Balmora and Vivec, turned them into ghost towns.

The guys in Contra were real badasses. They went shirtless.

Durandal, of the Marathon series. Take a male version of Cortana from Halo, make it smarter, funnier and crazier. And give him overwhelming control of one lone Security Officer/undercover cyborg.

Absolute badass.

Oh, and an honorable mention to Ash, of Evil Dead fame. He gets onto the list on a technicality since the character is the most badass character in the world, even though the Evil Dead games have been largely disappointing.

Edit: I just noticed that almost the exact same thing was said about Ash a few posts up. Oh well. It bears repeating. Ash=ultimate badass.

Codename 47 is indeed the major bad-ass. Cold-blooded contract killer who spares civilians only because killing them would create extra hassle. Other major mofo's I've enjoyed include: Tommy Vercetti, Max Payne, The Nameless One (CE to the boot, baby!), the main guy from Mafia, Vault Dweller, Ivan(?) from Jagged Alliance, Ben from Full Throttle.

Garett, from the Thief series. Cold as stone, and only in it for himself.

Golbez and Sephiroth from the FF series and ill agree with max payne, most other choices have been already stated.

The biggest badass of all time definately must be Sephiroth from FFVII.

And yes - I'll put in another vote for the Master Chief simply for the video for Halo 2 where he's surrounded by elites with the plasma swords and he pulls out a plasma grenade and Cortana says "I bet you can't stick it" and he turns the grenade on and responds "You're on"
