Unreal 3
As some of you may know, Unreal 3 is in development. If any of you have seen shots of this game in development (rather engine in development), then you know that shit is beautiful. If you've been following the development, you should also know that the only card that can run this game at an excusable frame rate is the Nvidia 6800 Ultra (30 FPS), or the ATI X800 Pro. You should also be made aware that every single character in the game contains approximately 1 MILLION polygons, which is the same count for an entire level of the original Unreal Tournament. Obviously, this is gonna be some insane shit. In that spirit, I'll be posting whatever pictures I can find, (there are plenty on IGN,) hopefully newer than what's on here. In fact, here's a link to some. I'll post the actual pictures when I get home from work, or perhaps someone will beat me to it. In either case, this shit is fuckin' amazing.
My point behind this thread is to have a running poll of opinions on everything about the game, graphics, hardware that you think will be necessary to run the game damn well, comments on screenshots, anything that strikes your fancy. Hell, if you can beat me to the pictures, feel free to post 'em! |
Crazy stuff. Good thing itll be a while--give me a chance to recuperate from the money I just spend on my Doom3 rig

Owned. How the hell did I miss that? Mods, you may close the thread.
EDIT: Actually, this is a blanket thread for the entire development of all of Unreal 3. Fuck that. Let's keep it rocking! Thanks to the_marq for bringing those screenshots up. I'll try to post the newest shots. |
How about we post the screenshots in this actual thread? I hate running to offsite links to see all the images - I'd rather they all be in this thread :) I'll join in if I find any new images.

I saw the demo at E3 this year. It's simply amazing. They're talking about rendering Maya-esc details in real time.
And editing in Unreal Ed 3 (I dont think that's what it will be called) looks easier than the orginal. At least at the demo it looked that way. |
After you guys finish cleaning yourselves off make sure you remember to add any new U3 screenies you find to this thread :)

Wow I have seen those screens before but I dont think I've seen them that hi-res.
The detail there is mind blowing, and to think most of it is normal mapping tricks and not actual polygons is great  And I wouldnt worry about your PC not being able to run it because by the time a game comes out using it, you will probably have gotten a new PC anyways. |
