Your favorite Nintendo game of all time?

Mine I do believe is the Zelda series. And when they did Zelda 2 that came out in the gold box (Cost me over $100) and it was side scrolling I almost lost my mind!!! I probably lost all feelings to my fingers everyday back then. I played about at least 8 - 10 hours a day and more on weekends!

denton 05-22-2004 09:51 AM

SNK Baseball Stars. I still play it, it's cool starting out with a crap team and building them into a champion.

bgivnin 05-22-2004 10:07 AM

Secret of Mana for the SNES. It combines the best features of Zelda and RPG's into one game. I spent HOURS leveling everyone and all their spells and weapons up to take on the last baddie.

Good times.... good times. :)

00111000 05-22-2004 10:49 AM

Metroid without a doubt.

yep

There was one game called "Dragon Warrior" that I also loved. You had one hero that you leveled up in fighting skills in order to kill the baddies to find the wondrous sword so that you could finish off the big demon king dude.

Well once....I got a bug up my ass to see if I could finish the game without using ANY weapons at all! It took me forever and a day to finish it but I did it. I got through the whole game by using nothing but my fists! It was so great! I don't seem to have that kinda patience anymore though. Happens as you get older. LOL!

Peryn 05-22-2004 11:24 AM

Dont ask me why, but i've got a special place in my heart for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game for the NES. Just played it the other day actually....

Pellaz 05-22-2004 11:31 AM

Dragon Warrior without a doubt...I went through periods where I would LIVE that game, even when I wasn't playing.

A close second would be Solar Jetman...I still play that every 3-4 years.

Gjefflin 05-22-2004 11:34 AM

TMNT!! Good game as well!

Never heard of Solar Jetman. What was that about?

brianna 05-22-2004 11:42 AM

pikmin.

NeverBorn 05-22-2004 11:48 AM

Megaman 2, but seriously don't laugh...Little Nemo the Dream Master

Gjefflin 05-22-2004 11:53 AM

OMG! Megaman!!! I remember beating both 1 and 2 and loved every minute of it!!!! I HATE the professor though!!! Trying to jump up so you could knock him out of his spaceship in order to destroy him was a pain in the tuckas! :)

sandeep 05-22-2004 12:19 PM

I'll put in another for Secret of Mana for super nes.

As much as I love the zelda games, Secret of Mana was probably the RPG I played the most and enjoyed the most.

Gjefflin 05-22-2004 12:21 PM

What was Secret of Mana all about by the way? What kind of creatures were in it?

Mr.Deflok 05-22-2004 12:40 PM

When you say Nintendo do you mean NES or all of Nintendo?

Either way, Metroid Prime, Metroid Fusion, Metroid Zero Mission, Super Metroid and Donkey Kong Country 1 are definately my favourites.

00111000 05-22-2004 12:57 PM

I was also all about Rygar and Kid Icarus on nes...those games were awesome!

Gjefflin 05-22-2004 01:13 PM

I meant the old NES and SNES. Sorry to be a little vague.

Gjefflin 05-22-2004 01:14 PM

I'm trying to remember if "Avenging Angels" were ever on any of the Nintendo platforms. I LOVED that coin-op game and I KNOW i've played it on one of the old consoles but can't remember which one. I've been trying to also find that game forever and can't seem to locate it. :(

Solar Jetman was a game where you piloted an egg shaped spacecraft on different planets in search of the Golden Warship. Gameplay was unique at the time, as all enviroments were low gravity/no atmoshpere(and huuuuuge), so instead of holding left to go left or pushing accelerate for a constant speed, you rotated your ship and fired short bursts or long thrusts to propel you in a the direction you wanted to go. It had an upgrade system equal to most of the rpgs at the time, and was maddingly difficult at times.

Gjefflin 05-22-2004 01:16 PM

Sweeeeet!!! Sounds like fun. Can't believe I missed it!!

Slayer 05-22-2004 01:47 PM

Super Mario World!!!

bltzkriegmcanon 05-22-2004 03:13 PM

Well, if it's old school, then I definitely have to say Chrono Trigger 100%.

twotimesadingo 05-22-2004 03:32 PM

It's all about Chrono Trigger, or Final Fantasy 3.

Gjefflin 05-22-2004 03:40 PM

LOVED the old original Final Fantasy games. I remember first playing them and falling immediately in love! There was another RPG that came out right around the same time and had the same type of engine as the final fantasy series and i'm trying to remember the name. If I remember i'll post it but that series was awesome as well!!

Destrox 05-22-2004 04:25 PM

Megaman 1 or 3
then metroid
then smb3
then hm.. many many others

There was a game called 'Legendary Wings', A shooting game where you play as an angel. I remember hearing it called another name at one point, could that be it? If it is, then yes, it was released on the NES.

My favorite has to be River City Ransom. From what I understand, River City Ransom Advance or whatever it's called is just a copy of the original, what a shame. I want a River City MMORPG.

THAT'S IT!!!!! That's the game!!!!! OH MY GOD no wonder I couldn't find it! THANKS! I'm going to do a search for it now. :D

bundy 05-22-2004 04:56 PM

ZELDA, ZELDA, ZELDA...

Hat 05-22-2004 06:49 PM

What the hell. He said favourite Nintendo game, not favourite game made by another developer that just happens to be on a Nintendo platform...unless that's what he meant in the first place. :p

My favourite NINTENDO game would have to be Zelda Ocarina of Time. My favourite game that happens to be on a Nintendo system (but is nevertheless not developed by Nintendo) would have to be Chrono Trigger, or Goldeneye...

Stompy 05-22-2004 06:55 PM

Favorite game of ALL time?

Damn... that's a hard one.

Man, so many...

Dragon Warrior 3 or 4. But then again.. there's Final Fantasy... and Super Metroid, and Link to the Past.. Earthbound.. Chrono Trigger.. man alive, I can't pick just ONE.

I'll go with Dragon Warrior 4.

flamingpeach 05-22-2004 06:58 PM

Super Mario World that came with SNES

BigGov 05-22-2004 07:00 PM

Tecmo Super Bowl

Still my favorite game of all time. I've broken every record imaginable. Then broken it again. I've won with every single team, multiple times. I've scored over 200 points in a game. I've downloaded new rosters and done it all over again. Twice. And I still love it.

And then they ruined the series with every next installment.

BRING IT BACK AND THEN GO BACK TO THE OLD SCHOOL SUPER BOWL TECMO!!!

Gjefflin 05-22-2004 07:58 PM

Okay...I finally remembered the game that I loved as well back in the day. PHANTASY STAR!!!!! :) Can't remember if that was SNES though or not. I think it was. Loved that whole series. Especially the 3rd one that let you play the characters past generations. That was so cool!!!

Cynthetiq 05-22-2004 08:11 PM

Master Blaster

In_Stereo 05-22-2004 09:36 PM

super metroid is teh r0xx0r

nanofever 05-22-2004 09:43 PM

It would be an all out melee between Final Fantasy 3, Super Mario Brothers 3, Destiny of an Emperor, Earthbound 1 and Mega Man 2.

I'm leaning towards FF3 because the job system was a massive leap forward.

Rdr4evr 05-23-2004 12:46 AM

Its really hard to narrow it down.
Zelda: tOoT would definately be in the top 3, I honestly cant think of any others right now, Im sure the other 2 would be N64 games also because I dont remember NES much. I remember I was blown away by Turok when it first came out too.

WarWagon 05-23-2004 01:14 AM

Duck Hunt/SMB combo.

Dude, be proud to like Little Nemo; I used to play that ALL...THE...TIME.

As for MegaMan 2... the NES MegaMan games are the sole reason why MegaMan is my favorite video game series. MegaMan 2 is awesome, but my favorite one is often over-looked: MegaMan 4. If you don't like DiveMan, PharoahMan, RingMan, or DustMan, you can just get the hell out.

Gjefflin 05-23-2004 09:44 AM

You know...never played 4. I played up to 3 and then that was pretty much it.

zounds 05-23-2004 02:21 PM

1. Tecmo Bowl
2. Bionic Commando
3. RC Pro-AM

qtpye4u84 05-23-2004 02:23 PM

Duck hunt combo with mario like said before,
I played it all the time.
Even though I beat the game I still liked to play it.

Shokan 05-23-2004 02:44 PM

1. Contra
2. ExciteBike
3. BattleToads ( I beat it once.....no, really. )

omid 05-23-2004 03:29 PM

it's hard to have one favorite... but i really liked chrono trigger for snes. gooooood shit.

heccubusiv 05-23-2004 03:50 PM

Super Dodge Ball, Mega Man 2, Metroid, Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy, its more like favorites.

GregsterGT 05-23-2004 06:24 PM

Ninja Gaiden 1,2, and 3. and super mario bros. 3, Chrono Trigger as well.

PredeconInferno 05-24-2004 11:26 AM

That's a tough question for me to answer... either Metroid or Mario RPG

crow_daw 05-24-2004 10:45 PM

NES: Punch Out, no freakin question.

SNES: Donkey Kong Country

Gjefflin 05-24-2004 11:38 PM

Punch out......LOVED IT! My favorite of course was figuring out Mike Tyson and knocking his lights out!!!! hehehehehe

losthellhound 05-25-2004 04:40 AM

NES - Any of the Dragon Warriors
SNES - Secret of Mana or Ogre Battle

Apokx 05-25-2004 07:17 PM

SNES - Zelda,Link to the Past.

NES - I cant remember, because I was between 2 and 5.I faintly remember playing Super Mario Bro's...and the first Ninja Gaiden.

Gjefflin 05-25-2004 08:31 PM

All of the Zelda's.....were awesome.

Gjefflin 05-26-2004 10:05 AM

I think there was a hockey game as well called...ummm..."Slap Shot" I think and it was cool because you could use your stick to slash at your opponents legs to trip them up and you'd get a penalty. Sometimes, it would happen by accident and then it'd become a whole game of just tripping up the other player. LOL!

bookerV 05-26-2004 10:20 AM

NES - Final Fantasy, Zelda

SNES - FF2, FF3

Gjefflin 05-26-2004 12:21 PM

Yeah. I gotta tell ya...the RPG's seem to be my favorite of all time. Even back when I first started out in gaming in the 80's.

MaGlC_MaN 05-26-2004 12:39 PM

favorite nes game was probably punch out, favorite snes was no question; zelda : a link to the past

Gjefflin 05-26-2004 01:45 PM

My favorite NES AND SNES games were the Zelda series. Can't believe how much Zelda II cost me. It was over $100. But I couldn't buy it fast enough.

gilsanc 06-02-2004 05:47 PM

My favorite NES game Dragon Warrior. Got that game free with a subscription to Nintendo Power Mag.

Favorite SNES game: Zelda...Awesome game.

You're missin' out, bud. 4 and 5 were both awesome experiences for me, then 6 was alright, too.

Ace_O_Spades 06-02-2004 06:11 PM

A boy and his blob! WOO

primal 06-02-2004 06:24 PM

NES:
Duck Hunt/SMB combo and probably metroid for second place

SNES:
Super Mario World and The Super Star Wars games as second place.

DownwardSpiral 06-02-2004 06:37 PM

Chrono Trigger and The Legend of Zelda : A Link to the Past

Gjefflin 06-02-2004 09:56 PM

Damn. Wished that I had played Zelda: A link to the past. NEver played it.

Bim 06-02-2004 10:31 PM

Mother 2, Zelda : A Link to the Past, And Smash Brothers Melee. Three of my favorite games, there are too many Nintendo titles to choose from, there all so good, my head will explode. Duck Hunt was great, I always knew i could never shot that dog, but i always wasted ammo trying :D.

SM Deluxe

LNCPapa 06-03-2004 06:06 AM

NES: Final Fantasy & Dragon Warrior
SNES: Final Fantasy II & III, Chrono Trigger
N64: Zelda OoT
GC: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles

I'm so predictably indecisive :(

LordEden 06-03-2004 06:17 AM

Zelda always will hold a speical place in my heart. Period.

Gjefflin 06-03-2004 05:34 PM

I as well LordEden. I as well. It was kinda my first introduction to RPG/Adventure games. Even though...it wasn't MUCH of an RPG I thought of it as such.
