Dual CPU/GPU Systems
Alienware has developed a system which can run with dual cpus and dual gpu's. Maybe this system will be able to run FarCry.

That is pretty cool, but as you said.

Alienware... bah
ATIC (a local Vancouver hardware supplier) can make me a better computer for a fraction of the cost, and no shipping. Now I just need money :( |
My first reaction: oh .... my......... god
second reaction: this is going to cost a $hitload of money! They are going to be using dual XEON processors and a water cooling system and I assume that the only way you can buy the system is with the dual video cards already loaded. You're basically buying a home server. Also, it says Alienware won't be licensing the technology which means they will have a monopoly, which as we know will result in even higher prices. I hope some mobo manufactures can figure this thing out as soon as possible so the rest of us can build our own dual video card systems. I will NEVER buy a computer from Bestbuy or CompUSA !! |
This is almost worth getting excited about, but there's a few things to remember:
1. Dual-CPUs have no effect on gaming. An Athlon XP 3200+ will slaughter dual 3.0 GHz Xeons at gaming. 2. The dual video card thing is nice, but Alienware has a monopoly on the dual PCI-E motherboards like Jericho said. They can't be bought seperately, either...you gotta buy the full $5,000 PC to get it. Cool concept, though! I remember seeing my friend's dual Voodoo 2's linked together on the back of his PC. I blew my load all over his computer! Ok, I didn't, but it was still really cool. -Lasereth |
"chrome-plated WASD keyboard keys" Come on, how has no one mentioned this. That is worth buying the system for right there.
*leaves to go stand in line |
According to Tom's Hardware, you'd probably be better off just sticking with a P4 3.4 EE than all that crap.

Do you have a link to the Tom's Hardware article? I have heard, from various sources, that the 3.4EE is not its all cracked up to be. Thanks |
cas305 has a point. Chrome plated wasd is like having 24inch rims...or something like that :)
