i myself almost shed a couple of tears when i heard that Nintendo was making a realistic Zelda. i have been waiting years for the next OOT....and now sometime early next year i will get my wish.

Wow, I like this a lot better than the previous cartoony graphics. I might even just buy a Gamecube for this game (and the new Resident Evil ;)).

yes it will be on the GC and HOLY SHIT! I cannot wait. I loved Windwaker but also have been waiting for a realistic Zelda(not like orcarina of time or majora's mask, i thought they were a disgrace to the zelda legacy). i cannot wait.

Whoa-ho-ho. That's pretty dang bad-ass, and this is coming from someone who supported the cel-shaded Zelda when it was first announced. I gotta ask something though...

Now, I'm not a fan of Majora's Mask or nothin', but it's alright...but what's so bad about OoT and MM that Wind Waker fixed?

Makes me proud to have a GC. Nintendo is making up for a lot of lost ground lately.

You guys really need to see the E3 Nintendo Press Conference. It's almost an hour long, but after watching it, I can say that Nintendo is probably gonna be the winner of the current console war, even after PS2 has dominated sales for the past few years. They've got things straight in this market.

To be truely honest I dont really know what it was. I could not get into it and it made me angry. I think it was something about how I loved the overhead, bird's-eye view of the others and refused to accept 3D. Maybe it had to do with the fact that I was angry at the N64 because it disappointed me. I waited in line for such a long time the day the 64 came out and was agered when it wasnt what I had hoped. Or maybe it was because OoT was delayed beyond belief. Maybe I should go back now and play through it again to see if my feelings have changed towards those games.

But hot damn the new zelda looks excellent.

Any thoughts on what the plot is? I reckon they'll either follow on from MM or the Adult timeline from OoT, myself.

I loved Wind Waker, but Ocarina of Time was the last true Zelda game as far as I'm concerned.

Wind Waker was a nice deviation, but it's nice to see a Ocarina style game is in the works. I only hope it's harder and more involved than Wind Waker and doesn't require 37 Gameboys + link cables, eh?

gosh... this is just nuts.

but, this is the only rain i can imagine falling on this parade...

this and metroid prime 2 get delayed until it's close to the launch of the next-gen consoles. the games get passed over... and nintendo has another weak round of launch titles for N5.

personally, i wouldn't mind seeing this as a launch title for the N5 if it's going to be thin. but, maybe i just worry too much...

I hope they bring the challenge back. Wind Waker was TOO EASY. IMO, it really was a child's game not because of the cell shading, which was actually a nice touch and change of pace, but because of how ridiculously easy and short it was.

I never once got stuck, never once had problems with any enemies/bosses, and I could probably count how many times I died on one hand :\

I prefer OOT and Link to the Past style of Zelda. If they could make this into a 3D Link to the Past... ooh yeah!

Looks like we're going to have to get a gamecube just for this game! :D

did you see the trailor? link on horse versus orc looking things riding pigs... seems a lot like the warg riding orc battle scene from the two towers movie.

I'm with you, I used to just play the one at work but it's not enough anymore, I need one in my room at all times now.

i was thinking the other day... 99 bucks is nothing for a new system, especially one that competes in the current generation.

if you were to buy the controller (25 bucks) and AV hookups (15 bucks) separately... you'd be paying only 60 DOLLARS for the regular machine. I realize it doesn't break down like that on Nintendo's end... but for how far a dollar goes these days, 99 bucks is a steal.

Anyway, my current desktop background is a screen cap from this game... i'm a freakin nerd.

I show them the latest bunch of WW screens:
I cut out most of the expletives.

Now, I show them the new screens:
I think my PS2-loving friends speak for many, no?

I never got stuck, only once had problems with any enemies/bosses (final boss, mind you), and only died once (thanks to that final boss). I still think it's a pretty sweet game though, it could just be harder.

Heh, first time through I didn't die once. The only time I lost all my hearts was in the Savage Labyrinth, but I had a fairy, woot! Nintendo purposely dulled down WW though, both in the gameplay and controls.

I like these new developments from Nintendo. I just hope they can stay in this upward trend. I've always been a big nintendo fan, but recently they had been kind of dissapointing, that is until they unvieled new stuff like this.

now if they followed along with the OOT adult story script as mentioned earlier, wouldnt link have the mastersword instead of what looks like some kind of regular bastard sword?

Nope, he jammed that big ol' master sword right back into the pedastle of time, remember? He _has_ got the hylian shield, that's what made me suspicious =) It's still very early days, though.

They keep talking about how grown up/mature he is, so isn't it safe to assume it's later than all the other games? Or is that a bad assumption?

Nope. Went from 9 to 16. His age wasn't revealed in any of the games or manuals, but it was widely believed to be 9 and 16, which Miyamato just confirmed.

I just pray they put in the classic Zelda Music, I loved the nintendo's Zelda's music.

I hate the hype that comes with previews like this, though. It's like you really hope that this will be the best Zelda ever released, but then again... it might not be. Chances are against em though, because how often does a game (or sequel) come out that just makes everyone wet their pants like OOT did?

It doesn't exactly have to be revolutionary (if it is, that's an additional plus), but by all means make it a BIG game, make it difficult, and make it fun! That's all I care about. I want something epic, not just something you play and get done with.

I dunno, if I was Nintendo, I'd take a look at the BEST selling game of the franchise and improve upon that particular title. OOT is widely recognized as the best game EVER made by most game sites. You'd think they would say to themselves, "Well, this is the game everyone loved, there's a reason for it. What were the elements involved, and what can we do to it to make it better?"

It makes you wonder WHY they made Wind Waker so different (lack of dungeons and overall length of the game, in particular). Sure, it was fun, but do they honestly think it was on par or BETTER than their best Zelda game of ALL TIME?

IMO, if you make a sequel... it better kick some ass and topple the titles before it.

That style looks good on the GBA, suits it much more than the GameCube.
