Favorite Game of All Time
Chrono Trigger SNES.
Best Game Evar Evar. |
Goldeneye for N64. There's just so much to friggin do, and friends and I STILL play multiplayer games quite often.
|
Hm, this is a hard one!
But i'm gonna have to go with Metroid for NES. I spent countless and I mean countless hours playing that. |
Pong. All the other games stole everything from pong.
Graphics -> pong did it first. Controls -> pong did it first. Points -> pong did it first. Gameplay -> pong did it first. There is only one answer to this question, and that is pong. All of mankind must sing the psalm of atari's glory. (space invaders doesn't count. That was invented by someone who travelled back from the future, after having stole everything from pong) |
Favorite all time game - Soul Blazer(snes) released in Japan as Soul Blader
|
Mine would have to be Full Throttle.
|
There's been like 900 threads on favorites games here, but people still make them because it's fun to rethink your opinion after playing newer games!
I don't have a favorite, but it's probably a tie between Final Fantasy 7, Chrono Trigger, Metal Gear Solid, Knights of the Old Republic, Metroid Prime, Halo, Final Fantasy X, SSX series, and Battlefield 1942. -Lasereth |
Final Fantasy VII.
No contest. |
Dune. It's kind of funny but it's the first game I ever played on a game system (Sega Genesis), and the first game I bought for PC (Dune 2000).
I still rate everything on how it stacks up against Dune. Like my big beef with Rise of Nations, and their ilk, is the scale is all off. I'm building big fleets of aircraft carriers to sail on my lake. Gimme a break. Wouldn't happen in Dune! |
Super Mario Brothers 3 - NES version (i prefer the NES controller)
|
Dig Dug :D
|
Mine changes constantly too, but right now, I'd have to say that KOTOR is still climbing the rungs in my mind. Also Guantlet 2 and The Longest Journey. And QFG1 Remake. And...must...stop...listing...favorites.

I agree. Chrono Trigger is the Best RPG and have the Best OST.
|
Quote:
Oh yeah, definitely. Chrono Trigger is one of the best games ever made. It's on up there on my list for favorite game, also. The soundtrack is only rivaled by Final Fantasy VII and Parasite Eve. |
The same game I say every time i'm asked
Warcraft 3 w/ expansion ...I go through withdraw if i dont get atleast one game in a day. http://www.blizzard.com/war3x/images...ncept/ss01.jpg |
Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo
|
I've had several favorites over the years (been gaming since the days of PONG), it's hard to pick just one. I think my favorite by era would be...
late 70's - mid 80's: River Raid (Atari2600) late 80's - early 90's: Nobonaga's Ambition (NES) mid 90's - late 90's: Civilization II (PC) early 00's - present: World War II Online (PC) There have been games that I might have enjoyed more for a breif time but these are the ones that I never tire of. |
Showing my age here, but I got the most out of Elite. Spent so much of my life playing that game. But other games worth a mention are Civilization, Captive and most recently Tac Ops.
|
Tie:
Sim City 2000 Civilization III |
mine sweeper.
or solitaire. simple. |
I would have to go with Counter Strike.

I mostly play PC games. So far, the best game is Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed. Had everything in it and the gameplay was just awesome. The sound was pretty authentic and the graphics were great.
I wished that Hot Pursuit 2 and Underground were an improvment from Porsche Unleashed, but they were no where close to it. They took out some features and changed some things that just made it boring to play. |
POrsche Unleased was amazing. The physics, the sound, the courses, the cars, all so good.
|
Vice City was great.
|
Myth: The Fallen Lords. You either know about it, or you don't.

Ah... the eternal question.... Doom, Sonic and Knuckles, Max Payne 2, Jedi Knight 2... it's an insanely tough question to answer, I've played far too many games but I'm thankful for that gift.
|
RESIDENT EVIL will eat all who stand before thee!!
|
Counter Strike
|
Wow!!! Many posts but none mentioned anything about Link! The original GOLD cartridge Zelda is one of my favorite games. River City Ransom was awesome. Almost any Maga-Man game; F-Zero; Super Mario Kart; MetalGearSolid; Gran Tourismo; FF 10; Halo and Max Payne 2. Damn, I would pick one game if I could but the games in this list I still find time to play on a regular basis.
|
Tecmo Super Bowl
|
Street Fighter 2
|
Fallout 2 (or Fallout 1)
|
Marathon.
Marathon 2. Marathon Infinity. Love them all. Not too fond of Halo. Myth and Myth 2 are awesome. |
Star Control 2.
Total Annihilation. X-Com. |

I'm a Need for Speed FREAK; I own every single game that they have made so far (and beaten them). Here's my list of best to worst: Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 Need for Speed 2 Need for Speed: Underground Need for Speed: High Stakes Need for Speed Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed Need for Speed: V-Rally |
I dunno, Hot Pursuit 2 on the 'Cube was just lame. Lamer than lame. They must have messed with the sensitivity or something, because the cars were uncontrollable.
|
I'd choose either...
GoldenEye 007 Asheron's Call Mario Kart 64 |
Speedball 2 on the sega megadrive. I played it so much I burned out the cartridge
|
I can't say favorite of all time, but in sheer hours played I would throw down Final Fantasy Tactics against any other across my last 15 years of gaming.
|
Civilization II. No other game have I gone back to play over and over again in between new games.
|
Quest for Glory Series, above all else... wow I played those for sooooo long when I was a kid! Going through with each class and maxing all skills! I'm pretty sure I could still do QFG1 original in my sleep!

xenogears, it is still my favorite
|
The best of all time has to be Final Fantasy VII
THe best Ps2 is FFX The best PC is StarCraft The best SNES is Chrono Trigger And the best N64 is Goldeneye |
My all time favorite is GTA Vice City. I played it almost every day for nearly a year without getting sick of it. The only reason I stopped is because I finally started getting some new games. I've been into PC and console games for over 15 years and have never found a game with as much replay value.
After that, I'd say Ultima VI. |
There were many that came to mind, but for me, there is really only one:
Half Life. It changed gaming forever, and its still playable 5 years later. Veritas en Lux! Jimmy The Hutt |
The only way I can really choose my favorite game of all time is by how many hours I've spent playing it. So by that reckoning, it would be the Romance of the 3 Kingdoms series. I have never played a bad version of that game yet, and I've wasted many a weekend stealing other Rulers generals, then beating them into submission with their own guys.
The only other series that could come close to competing with that would be NHL 94-96, which was the favorite around the dorm during my college days. |
In no order:
Perfect Dark Metal Gear Solid Final Fantasy 7 Super Mario RPG NFL 2k3 Super Mario All-Stars Sonic Mega Collection MegaMan 1-6 (I like the SNES ones too, but they're NOTHING compared to the NES ones) |
Final Fantasy 3/Chrono Trigger. I dunno, its close
|
I've got a few
Legend of Zelda: All of 'em Chrono Trigger Final Fantasy Series KOTOR Metal Gear Solid Every Mario game in the main 'storyline' Battlefield: 1942, DC and probably Vietnam UT |
Goldeneye 007
No other game was anywhere near as good, offered as much replay value, or is as much fun to play with friends... And the amount of weapons and characters is just ridiculous |
Goldeneye 007, Mario Kart 64, Mario 64, and Everquest.

just a short list off the top of my head:
Chrono Trigger Fallout 1 and 2 The Monkey Island series Super Metroid Mario Bros 3 Duke Nukem 3D Metal Gear Solid TMNT: Turtles in Time Goldeneye The Commander Keen series Link to the Past Mega Man X |
My small list of best games. for me, my personal opinion. Some based on quality of game, some based on being trendsetters.
FPS: Doom. the game that started the whole genre for everyone. I know castle wolfenstein came first, but doom wsa bigger, badder, and got everyone playing. RTS: Dune. I once left a date with my girlfriend in college to play overnight. Went to bed at 8 in the morning. XBOX: Halo. I know Ialready have an FPS, but to me Halo kicks so much ass. I like the story, the variety and intelligence of the enemy, the character of the npc soldiers, and the variety of gameplay. RPG: Diablo 2: Great dungeon crawl, plus Blizzard's support and updates for the game has really expanded the playing of it. Racing Sim: Gran Turismo. Goddamn that game sucked up a lot of time. That is the one reason I wish I had a playstation 2 instead of the XBOX. Sega GT 2002 is ok, but its no Gran Turismo. Fighting game: Tekken 3. I loved Street Warrior 2, but it sucked up too many quarters in college. Tekken three I could play over and over until I unlocked all of the characters. Paul was the man. Flying combat: Tie fighter. Good ships and good missions. |
was -this- thread inspired by gamefaqs? :P
|
Any of the MEGAMAN games, MEGAMAN is da shiznit.. or somethin mmm hehehe
|
Spy Hunter. The first one. There is none higer. I STILL play it.

Road Rash 1 and 2 for Sega Genesis
|
Mortal Kombat 2-SNES
Ninja Gaiden 2- NES Goldeneye-nintendo 64 lakers vs. celtics- sega genesis contra-NES Tiger Woods 2001- ps2 Mike Tyson's punch-out-NES |
ZELDA and CRYSTALIS
|
Goldeneye 007
Me and my friends played it like a religion in highschool. My favorite memories include license to kill with pistols, and remote mines (and of course it was perfectly acceptable to watch your openents screen so you could detonate the mines when he ran past.) Ah memories.... |
Dig Dug and Pac Man.....Ha
|
Final Fantasy VII, Metal Gear Solid, The Legend of Zelda : Ocarina of Time, Chrono Trigger and Goldeneye 007.
|
Sam 'n Max Hit the Road, Grim Fandango, Monkey Island 1-3.
|
final fantasy 3 no contest.
althou chrono trigger is in my que of games to be played  |
Final Fantasy VII.
I finished that bitch and just said "Damn." Say it every time I play through it, which is like once every 3 months. |
I've been playing Wolfenstein 3D for most of my life. I finally got over 1,000,000 points a few weeks ago. :D

|
I'd say...

|
Final Fantasy Tactics.
|
Socom 2 ONLINE!!!!!!!!!!! YEA Im am a captian with a high rank
|
Quake 1 and Ultima Online are simply the best games for me. I still miss those games and I haven't played them in 3-4 years.
|
Final Fantasy IV
|
Tie between EQ and FF7.
|
I will also have to cheat and name more than one game:
Chrono Trigger Final Fantasy VI Half-Life Metal Gear Solid |
Quote:
I have a friend, one of the best players I know, has a K-D ratio of almost 3-1, and is ranked at 100,000. Myself, I was a captain for a good while, but then I realized how pointless it was, so I played the game the way it should be played. Every teammate that is an asshole, dead. Every moron on my team, dead. Every racist, bigot, or overall annoying person, dead. I probably have upwards of 500 intentional team kills. As a result, dropped about 100,000. Too much point whoring, cheesing, cheating, and overall bullshit in the ranking system to make it worthwhile. |
Blaster Master or Life Force on NES
But my new fav game is Far Cry....as of last night at least :D |

|
It's a difficult choice but I would have to say that my favorite game of all time is... The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. If you asked me why I probably couldn't tell you, I guess it's just something about the combination of everything the game encompasses which is why I enjoy it so much.
|
can't decide...
chrono trigger - SNES yoshi's island - SNES Zelda: Ocarina of Time - N64 FF VII - PS i think with the timing that yoshi's island had in its release (sega saturn and playstation emerging) really hurt its place in the pantheon of great games. there seriously isn't a more fun 2D game with the anywhere near the depth of gameplay. plus, the graphics are ridiculously good for the platform. so many people were busy being impressed by all the average-quality 3D games that this kind of slipped under the radar. wow... that game is a shining example of what sets miyamoto apart. oh, and ditto that Fox1... there really was something intangibly great about that one. The first time through was definitely one of my favorite gaming experiences of all time. |
Ultima 7
|
XENO-FOKKING-GEARS
|
hmmmm this is a tough one
fav RTS: C&C and most sequels, cept tiberian sun, but i definetely loved most of the series, westwood rocks :) RPG: toss-up between chrono trigger, KOTOR and diablo2, been playing d2 for almost 2 years now and still addicted..... FPS: Starsiege tribes, most of you probably never heard of this game ;) loved it, in my opinion the best team-based FPS ever made, the sequel i didn't like as much, but still cool. can't wait for the next installment, tribes:vengence :) and for those interested, T1 and T2 are gonna be avail free in some mag in june i believe, computer gaming world or something.. can't remember exactly... and also gonna be available on file planet ;) definetely worth the download methinks ;) but i already have both |
counterstrike has been my fav in the past.
|
Star Control 2
Master of Magic X-com Scorched Earth Worms Recently, 'Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time' has been quite a favorite. |
I'm not 100% certain but right now (the original) Splinter Cell ranks right up there, I love this game so badly it's sad. Whenever a news reel is shown shivers are sent down my spine and my mouth gaps in terror.
|
I can't decide on just one, but these are definitely my all time favoirtes.
Super Metroid Metroid Prime Street Fighter Alpha 3 Final Fantasy VII Metal Gear Solid The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time KOTOR |
