So there're these new DOOM3 screenshots up at gamespot which got me all hot and bothered again for the Doom3... so I fired up the leaked alpha again last night and man is that stuff awsome... I've played through the included 3 levels more times than I can count and that shit still can scare me... I can't waiut for this game!

To those who have played the Alpha, what's the keycode in level 2 (I think it's level2)? I was lucky enough to be able to play the game with 14-20 FPS average, I also noticed that the 43.45 detonator drivers boosted my FPS by 5 ie 14-25.

i used to know what level 2's keycode was, but I forgot, however u can simply drop the console and give it a NOCLIP, fly through the door, then noclip again.... but look out on your right. ;)

any way you guys want to hook me up with the tester? I'm leaving for london to study September 5th and I'm sure I'll miss the inital 4 months of the game's release :(

I've never been a big gamer....but Doom was the first time I ever got truly addicted to a game. I remember wasting hours and hours of valuable drinking time in college, playing that bastard on my buddy's computer down the hall...

While you wait, you might try Clive Barker's Undying. It should be cheap by now, but has a very, very creepy story and characters. I mean, how many times do you run across someone who has been skinned, and only their tendons and muscles show? COOL! I love it, and had to wipe the sweat off my mouse all too often.

I have a 1.6 GHz Athlon XP, 768 MB of DDR ram, and a GeForce 4 TI 4200 128 MB videocard. Doom III runs at about 40 frames per second on average, but when you find an enemy, the shit hits the fan. The game slows down to about 20 frames per second when you fire a gun, and sometimes down to 1 or 2 frames per second when you fire a gun a lot. I sure hope that you can turn down the options a shitlode to make it work on your computer.

The graphics are simply amazing in-game. It looks like a playable Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. Scary as hell too. :) The part where the monster jumps through the pipes in level 2 is probably the best graphics I've ever seen in a videogame.

I'm probably going to need a better video card to run in reasonably high resolution. Heck, I'll buy a new PC if I have to in order to play DOOM III.

EB has the game slated for Halloween. However, they also had DNF slated for June 2001. Draw your own conclusions.

Anybody else disappointed that Trent Reznor is rumored to NOT be working on the sound anymore?

I've heard for the last year or so that he was doing the sound + music, and I think he still is. He and id are close and I think he would jump at the chance to work on Doom3.

By the way, if anyone has the alpha and wants to share, PM me ~ I had half of it downloaded at one point and my DSL cut out.
