Deus Ex: Invisible War
I did a search for this and nothing really came up?
Have people forgotten about this game? For me, i've been looking forward to it, more than Doom 3 and Half life 2. Anyway, ign have received a "final build" and the game should (hopefully) be released on the 2nd of December (only 2 weeks away). Although i think it's good that people haven't really been hyping it too much, or it's be in Half life 2 and DOom 3's shadow, but i am really looking forward to it. The first game was incredible and this one will only have to be ahlf that game to be good. Good stuff. also here is the article ign did on it, wiht some breif info. The review should be out shortly though :) |
I've got the Xbox build and am playing it when I get the chance (can only play at my office, since my Debug Xbox stays there). So far I like it - not as much as the first, but that might be because I have a lot harder time controlling shooters on the Xbox than on the PC.
It's shaping up to be a fine game, though I wonder if it will have the surprise/delight factor of the original. That one was just so unique it will always stand out in my mind. |
<a target=new href="http://www.dxinvisiblewar.com/"><b> Dues Ex 2 Main Page</b></a>
It has Trailers and pixs - looks great. I loved the first one. I think i might replay it to get in the mood |
Happy Puppy.com has a ton of information about the game but most of it is just early release notes. Does anyone know when its expected to come out?
|
should be around the 2nd of december, hopefully. But you always get the 99% complete syndrome with software :(
|
i have a question. i have a amd 1.7 1.4ghrz , 768 megs of ram and a radeon 7k pro...... will my machine manage DE2?
|
@WhoaitsZ
have you run other recent games with it? The main issue is your gfx card. It would probably need certain hardware acceleration (like transform and lighting). I am not entirely sure what features/accelration it has, sorry. I am not much of a hardware expert or anything, i have some knowledge, but i am mainly involved with software stuff. Sorry i can't be more specific. More details about the games specs should be released soon. |
A sneak Peek -
http://www.gamespy.com/previews/nove...nvisiblewarpc/ Spiffy Sense of immersion; cool storyline, freedom of choice. Iffy Character models and animation; some graphical jumpiness. The original Deus Ex was far more than a mere first-person shooter. It allowed players to really choose their destiny in a way that's rarely been duplicated. Regardless of the challenges the game threw at you, there were at least three ways to solve the problem -- usually involving lots of gunfire, stealth, or solving some knotty technical problem using the RPG-like skills system. It fully deserved every "Game of the Year" and "Fan Favorite" award it received. and more... |
God, I can't wait for this game. I absolutely loved the first one it was probably one of the best damn games I have ever played, let alone seen.
|
thanks SJ.
actually all this time i failed to realize it coming to the Xbox. i'll go that route. save $$ |
FYI, the demo is supposed to be released at some point today on Fileplanet.
www.fileplanet.com Keep an eye out for it. |
Has anyone played the demo yet? I can't play it until tonight. I have heard good things about this game. I hope it's as good as the first one.
|
Duece Ex 2: Invisible War
Anyone played the demo, its downloading right now, but @ 200mb it'll take a good half hour =\
I've heard it's really taxing system wise, friend with a Radeon 9800 is getting choppy framerates at anything above 1024x768 Looking for input, maybe i'll buy the game. Thanks :D |
hmmm the demo seems to always crash on me while loading a new game. from the forums i've found so far this isn't too common of a problem, but my pc should easily handle it so im not sure what the deal is here. I'll keep searching for now.
|
I have a fairly medium computer (Thunderbird 1.3, 768MB RAM, Geforece 4 Ti) and it runs a little choppy in 800x600. I'm not that impressed! The characters look nice and all, but the shadows are bad, and the physics engine is really crappy - things fall very unrealistically. I'm going to give it another spin - the demo seemed pretty short, but maybe I just overlooked something.
Anyone else? |
The demo is available via bit torrent on supernova.org for those who use bt.
|
I've played the PC demo, and I'm not to i'mpressed by the graphics, or the gameplay. However, I am talking about the DEMO of the game. The game it self might shape up to be much better (I hope).
|
I doubt much will be changed, as it is due for release early next month.
But there is a thread on how to improve on a lot of things in the demo, the text size for example, which is hideously huge: http://www.ionstorm.com/forum/viewth...12110&id=34880 |
I played it and for me it was a serious dissappointment..I came in thinkin they couldn't anything to screw up Deux Ex 2 because..I mean look at the first one :/ Sadly I was mistaken, even on a fairly good and new computer it runs sluggish and the interface always gets in the way of things..hopefully they'll have these fixed before release

Another BT link http://www.gametab.com/files/torrents.php?fuse=125 |
On the link I posted there's a description of how to alter the .ini files to move the interface more out to the sides. Looks to me like they shipped the demo with Xbox settings or something, I mean look at that huge text! (again)
I liked the gameplay and the shadows. The textures were WAY too low-res, but I hope that's just to limit the size of the demo (in which case I wonder why they included a Thief 3 video, but who knows) I don't like the fact that it takes 4 headshots to kill a guy. That's one of the things I liked most about the first, one headshot one kill. That's realistic, that's stealth. But the whole interface is pretty annoying. One grenade takes up the same space as a flamethrower? Come on. One type of ammo for all weapons? The pistol uses the same ammo as the flamethrower? WHY? Oh, and somehow the bar entrance guy can disable a police baton I found. With a code. But as I wrote there are lots of ways of tweaking stuff. Hopefully some real fans will sit down and make the game truly like the first one, I know it's possible to tweak locational damage, and it must just be a matter of time before somebody figures out the rest. I can't believe they released this, thinking we we going to like it. Maybe it's all just a joke. Yes, that's what is is. A joke. Ha ha. |
If the full game is like this demo, I'm going to be pretty disappointed. Deus Ex is still in my top-ten greatest games of all time, though I don't think DX2 is going to get anywhere near that.
:( |
I have the Dues Ex 2 demo but I haven't played it yet. Funny thing is I started playing the first one recently and I wasn't very impressed. Perfect Dark is so much better, but the story may improve the further you go. I got to the point where I was assigned in China.
|
It seems to me that they focused the game too much for X-Box, and in part, dumbed down the PC version.
That makes me sad :( The HUD and setup of the first one was so fun and excellent. I'm sure the game will have a good story and settings, but the gameplay doesn't look like it will live up to the first game's. |
Looks nice and the physics are cool but it was incredibly boring. I think CyN1caL is right, playing the game it felt like I was playing an X-Box title which isn't necessarily a bad thing but I'd much prefer to play an outstanding PC title.
|
I read somewhere that the textures will be higher res in the full game, and that they will incorporate headshots (with modded pistol or heavier guns)
It's beginning to look a little better. |
The game had already gone gold before that, so I think we'll have to wait until a patch for them to implement those changes.
|
I read that the deom is an injustice of the game. This game isn't really about the glitz and glamour so much, moreso the about the way the game changes around you and your decisions in the game vastly effect the storyline. This openendedness is my main attraction to the game and it's style. Hopefully performance issues can be dealt with though? i don't like the idea of low and choppy frames on mid-level machines?
Ign reviewed the game http://pc.ign.com/articles/442/442591p1.html and it looks quite good to me. Of course, it's hard to outdo the previous game, in it's own right deus will still be very good. Look forward to playing it very soon :) |
I've been reading demo reviews on the official boards, and from what I can gather, there are almost an infinite number of small, random things the NPC's can do.
One person shot a guard, and Sak (the woman) saw him go down from her window. Then she went outside, shot the other guard because she thought he did it, and then a guard came outside and shot her because she shot the other guard... that's great... |
Thanks for the IGN review, by the way. It's a good read.
|
I downloaded the demo a few days ago and played that for a while, and I must say it was rather boring. It nearly put me to sleep. I already uninstalled the demo, and I don't ever plan on buying the game.
|
Ive said it before , and Ill say it again
Deus Ex - DAMN fine PC game eventually ported to console Deus Ex2 - BLATANTLY made for console market from the start. The demo is Terrible imo. Try this.. Play the demo..then go back and play the original on pc... u can tell the difference and the first game is dated now. |
for my feeling .. DX2 was overhyped , as the first review shows its much shorter and the 3d shooting part is shitty too :(
|
The demo really disappointed me, especially the interface and the framerates. As long as it has a great story though I'll still enjoy it.

First one was awesome and I still play the onine multiplayer to this day. Red Faction 2 - Also BLATANTLY made for console, then came out for the PC and it was complete garbage. I bought it, played for an hour and had it up for auction on Ebay the very next hour. |
Yeah so, the game is out, has anyone played it yet? Is it any good?
|
Hey guys, I've been playing DX2 for the last two nights (PC) and it is very different from the demo thank christ. If you liked the first game, you'll probably like this one. A few things are lame like the lack of head shot kills and the unified ammo, but these annoyances slide into the background as you get into the game. I am really enjoying it. Just my 2 cents and junk.
|
Now I'm worried after all my "eager anticipation", this game is going to be a huge disappointment. I've read people's comments and reviews on DX2, and not many were favourable.
This game was made for console. And probably going to be ruined by the console. Same thing happened with Red Faction. |
deus ex 2 is horrible
the damn game is so not ready for prime time. i had to choke on 4 fps out of the box running at 640x480 res and lowest settings on all textures. turns out though if you run the damn game in windows 2000 compatability mode it picks up quite a bit. that coupled with a few other settings in the default.ini file made things a bit more bearable. so who else is suffereing at the hands of this public relations nightmare?
|
Yeah, cause you know this is the first PC game ever that didn't run the way it was supposed to for some people right out of the box. It's unbelievable isn't it?
|
LOL no doubt. oh well there was always a chance things could have worked out. i guess there is a patch due out here any day thats supposed to redeem the game. but we'll see in the end.

I don't understand what the big deal is! This game is getting great reviews from everywhere I read. IGN mentioned that it does slow down on the editor's PC, but he also mentioned he was using a 32 MB videocard. What do you expect? 64 MB cards are $70-$100 these days for the absolute best that still play all of today's games. My GeForce 4 TI4200 is about $80 now, and it plays the Half-Life 2 cinema benchmark VERY well.
Performance issues aside, everything else about this game is supposed to be superb. I heard a few complaints about the skill system being taken out since the first one and the absence of different kinds of bullets. What computers are you guys trying to run it on? Ya can't say a game sucks simply because there's performance issues on some computers. Maybe the computer is old and needs upgrading if it won't play it. -Lasereth |
I heard from another forum, that the game is only 15 hours long.

With Deus its ALL ABOUT THE STORY..everything else is just filler
|
Much to my disappointment my machine just can't hack Deus Ex 2. I played long enought to realize it would be unbearable to go any further and put it down. With Christmas around the corner I should be able to score some upgrades to make it playable.

I'd love to hear what you tweaked to get your DX2 to work well.
I just upgraded my computer and first thing I installed was DX2 (after WinXP of course) - P4 2.6 - 800MHz FSB 1 gig of 3200 Corsair RAM 120 GB Seagate Barracuda, SATA And I can run the damn thing at 800x600 - and it's pretty jerky. I read a thread somewhere and changed the fonts to smaller ones, and moved the HUD out to the sides. Are there things you can do to increase the framerate? I'd love to hear if so. (I also PMed Atomsk about this, but thought other people would like to know as well) |
... i you like a game, cool. if you hate a game, cool.
please do not call the reviewers of games liars. disagree? fine. call them liar? juvenile. sad, too. |

I enjoyed it, but it pales in comarison to the original... especially when it comes down to game time...
10 hours versus 30+... Still, it is a lot of fun! |
Deus Ex 2
has this topic been made yet?
if not..... how is it? i've just started playing it and im forced to run it at 640x480 at low gfx on my gf3 :( 1st game i've had to do that in....even halo ran at 800x600 the cutscenes are good... hopefully weapons ahead are also cool.... |
Yeah, there's already a thread on it: http://tfproject.org/tfp/showthread....threadid=36044
A few members there had fixes that made the game run better; I'd check it out! It got good reviews. I've never played the first one, so I probably won't check out this one either. It still looks damn cool though! -Lasereth |
I have the game but cant play it. for some resaon it wont even start up. it always crashes before I even get a logo screeen. Due to the fact I have tried it on several systems that exceed the recommended specs for everything, I am not impressed with it. I have even tried the patch for it and the other suggestions their website has. If I cant get it to work soon the disc will be coasters

The GeForce 4 MX series isn't supported I believe, or that may be Prince of Persia I'm thinking of...
|
i did not like it i could not make it out of the first room due to frame rate issues. 2 FPS is not playable
P4B 2.53 @ 2.849 Radeon 9800 pro 256mb i dont know waht the problem was but i gave up. |
It ran like a peice of shit sliding down a wall on a outhouse.
This was one of the last 2 years worse port ever made, they barely even did anything to make it suitible for a PC from the Xbox. |
Quote:
|
Well, I'm pretty sure the shit would run down the wall fairly slowly. Unless of course it was more diarrhea but then you would have had some trouble throwing it against the wall in the first place.
My recommendations are to turn down the shadows and lighting. Those two items cause major FPS hits. The menu for the video options is kind of strange too. When you exit, it only saves the changes you made on the page you were on. So if you tone down the model detail on page two and then go back to page 1 and change the resolution then save, it'll only save the changes on page 1. That really threw me off. Hooray for menus designed for consoles! |

so buy an x-box and play it there..

Truth be told, the X-box version will be the better option despite it's controls. |
The syatem I want it to work on the most, which is my gaming machine, is as follows:
AMD 2800+ Barton ASUS A7N8X Deluxe 1.5 gig ddr 400 Soundblaster Audigy 2 platnium Gainward Ti 4800 ultra gold 2 maxtor 120gig hdd with 8 meg cache CD burner DVD burner the strange thing is that I can run HALO and all my other games with everything maxed out without a single problem. I would love to try the game, but so far that doesnt look like it will happen. |
I'm willing to sacrifice to mouse for better peformance (besides after playing so much Halo you get used to the FPS console controls) and they're really not that bad. They respound well IMHO anyways
|
wee finally found a hidden icon in the games system folder that allowed it to work (after putting it into 2000 compatability mode. It now works perfectly fine with everything cranked up. My question is that for such an advanced game why does it start with a crappy resoution?
|
so those without a new video card can get soem decent FPS?
|
I have a respectable system, however I couldn't get the game to run smooth. so I didn't play it. I'll bet it's fun though
|
Dx1>Dx2, however, I still liked having more DX to play. Personally, I'd like to see the game redeemed in a third installment.
