I don't understand what the big deal is! This game is getting great reviews from everywhere I read. IGN mentioned that it does slow down on the editor's PC, but he also mentioned he was using a 32 MB videocard. What do you expect? 64 MB cards are $70-$100 these days for the absolute best that still play all of today's games. My GeForce 4 TI4200 is about $80 now, and it plays the Half-Life 2 cinema benchmark VERY well.
Performance issues aside, everything else about this game is supposed to be superb. I heard a few complaints about the skill system being taken out since the first one and the absence of different kinds of bullets. What computers are you guys trying to run it on? Ya can't say a game sucks simply because there's performance issues on some computers. Maybe the computer is old and needs upgrading if it won't play it. -Lasereth

Much to my disappointment my machine just can't hack Deus Ex 2. I played long enought to realize it would be unbearable to go any further and put it down. With Christmas around the corner I should be able to score some upgrades to make it playable.

I'd love to hear what you tweaked to get your DX2 to work well.
I just upgraded my computer and first thing I installed was DX2 (after WinXP of course) - P4 2.6 - 800MHz FSB 1 gig of 3200 Corsair RAM 120 GB Seagate Barracuda, SATA And I can run the damn thing at 800x600 - and it's pretty jerky. I read a thread somewhere and changed the fonts to smaller ones, and moved the HUD out to the sides. Are there things you can do to increase the framerate? I'd love to hear if so. (I also PMed Atomsk about this, but thought other people would like to know as well) |

I enjoyed it, but it pales in comarison to the original... especially when it comes down to game time...
10 hours versus 30+... Still, it is a lot of fun!

Yeah, there's already a thread on it: http://tfproject.org/tfp/showthread....threadid=36044
A few members there had fixes that made the game run better; I'd check it out! It got good reviews. I've never played the first one, so I probably won't check out this one either. It still looks damn cool though! -Lasereth

I have the game but cant play it. for some resaon it wont even start up. it always crashes before I even get a logo screeen. Due to the fact I have tried it on several systems that exceed the recommended specs for everything, I am not impressed with it. I have even tried the patch for it and the other suggestions their website has. If I cant get it to work soon the disc will be coasters

It ran like a peice of shit sliding down a wall on a outhouse.
This was one of the last 2 years worse port ever made, they barely even did anything to make it suitible for a PC from the Xbox.

Well, I'm pretty sure the shit would run down the wall fairly slowly. Unless of course it was more diarrhea but then you would have had some trouble throwing it against the wall in the first place.
My recommendations are to turn down the shadows and lighting. Those two items cause major FPS hits. The menu for the video options is kind of strange too. When you exit, it only saves the changes you made on the page you were on. So if you tone down the model detail on page two and then go back to page 1 and change the resolution then save, it'll only save the changes on page 1. That really threw me off. Hooray for menus designed for consoles!

The syatem I want it to work on the most, which is my gaming machine, is as follows:
AMD 2800+ Barton ASUS A7N8X Deluxe 1.5 gig ddr 400 Soundblaster Audigy 2 platnium Gainward Ti 4800 ultra gold 2 maxtor 120gig hdd with 8 meg cache CD burner DVD burner the strange thing is that I can run HALO and all my other games with everything maxed out without a single problem. wee finally found a hidden icon in the games system folder that allowed it to work (after putting it into 2000 compatability mode. It now works perfectly fine with everything cranked up. My question is that for such an advanced game why does it start with a crappy resoution?
