Best games noone plays

Amplitude...
Just logged in today, and there are only like 10 people playing..

Lasereth 12-13-2003 09:59 AM

I think there's a thread about this like 10 pages back, but search isn't working so I'm not looking for it. :)

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem (GC)
Frequency and Amplitude (PS2)
Mark of Kri (PS2)
Metroid Prime (GC)

A surprising amount of people won't play Metroid Prime because they can't get used to the controls. :(

Erix 12-13-2003 11:32 AM

the best game no one ever plays is Lode Runner 2, hands down

Beltruckus 12-13-2003 02:02 PM

Mark of Kri was amazing i loved that game and how violent it was. I also love the animation in it all the artwork just everything about it is A+

NeverBorn 12-13-2003 02:09 PM

I LOVED ETERNAL DARKNESS!! I bought a game cube for that reason. I dunno..I find it hard to believe no ones playing Metriod Prime..

battlemouth 12-13-2003 02:26 PM

now just a quick point, if no one is playing the game wont nobody know about it? anyways, a good game minimal ammounts of people play is the original xenogears

Prophecy 12-13-2003 03:00 PM

1) Planescape:Torment, it never got pushed publicly like most RPGs but it could be the best PC RPG to date as far as story goes. :)

2) Record of the Lodoss War for Sega Dreamcast. It came out late in the DC's lifespan. But it was a great game, much better than any Midway Gauntlet game or even Bioware's Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance games.

YaWhateva 12-13-2003 04:32 PM

Eternal Darkness and Metroid Prime are great, i have a hard time believing people wont play it.

BuddyHawks 12-13-2003 04:33 PM

Septerra Core for the PC. It's an RPG a few years old. Got good reviews and I loved it, but I've havn't heard of anyone ever playing it.

nanofever 12-13-2003 04:54 PM

Uplink for the PC, best hacking simulation ever produced.

It's not that they "won't" play it, it's that they don't know what they're missing. I tell people all the time about Eternal Darkness, and no one cares. :( Metroid Prime is loved by a ton of people, but I've met so many that simply won't try it after playing it for 15 minutes. One of my friends even said it was the worst game ever made simply because of the controls.

Great LAN fun

im really getting tired of all these goddamn ambiguious started threads.

Every fleeting thought through a person's brain does not deserved to be validated and discusssed.
example: "Im having what for dinner?"
"Best shoes ever?"
"Poll: Left or Right?"
etc...

*grumble grumble*

Purge Jihad (add a .com if you want to know what it is)

Mantus 12-14-2003 01:13 AM

To critique a few previous posts.

Septerra Core – was okay, their world concept alone made me buy the game, but it wasn’t well executed.

Xenogears – is a great RPG.

Now some gems I played but very few ever heard off.

Evil Islands (PC) – Think of a lighthearted Diablo/Dungeon Siege with the ability to sneak, do actual backstabs and day night cycles that actually effect the game. Other cool features like monsters tracking your footprints (which stick around longer in mud or snow), a verity of different environments and nice graphics. If you like slasher games then you should try this one.

Tactics Ogre (PSX) – think of Ogre Battle and Final Fantasy Tactics combined.

Front Mission 3 (PSX) – This game is as good if not better then Final Fantasy Tactics. But perhaps its because I like robots more then chocobos.

The Darkest Day (PC) – this is an un-official expansion for Baldur’s Gate II. Rather well done, with new areas, monsters, character and some 200 items. How can any one have enough of BGII?

cradeg 12-14-2003 04:12 AM

Little Big Adventure 1 / 2

It was innovative , cool and just awesome :) GREAT GAME

nukeu666 12-14-2003 04:58 AM

How is this thread considered ambiguous? The poster asked about which games are great, but not as popular as they should be. That's not ambiguous at all. It's a good way for people to hear about games that they missed due to poor popularity.

I do know what you're talking about though; there tends to be a lot of those type of threads in the Chatter section of TFP. This isn't an example of one, however.

Ya I can see that happening, but i personally love the controls, meh.

I love the controls. I wouldn't have it any other way. If Retro Studios made Prime have Halo controls like a first-person-shooter, then the game simply couldn't have a platforming stance. Jumping and making key movements is one of the major aspects of the game! You can't make precise jumps and landings with Halo-like controls. Well, if humans had three hands...

People who bitch about the controls simply didn't play it long enough to get used to it. If you play that game for a good 3 hours, then there's no going back. The controls are perfect for the game. But like I said, most gamers play a game for 15 minutes and then decides it sucks because they can't figure out how to strafe.

Dominions II: The Ascension Wars (PC)

It's a bitchin' HoMM/AoW clone.

RedCometChar 12-14-2003 10:54 PM

Gitaroo Man. Such a great game, it should be sold out everywhere. I've had mine practically since it came out, but when I see one still on the discount shelves, I almost want to give it a home.

Also, the entire Harvest Moon series. Granted, someone has to be playing them other than me, for Natsume to keep cranking them out. But they've always been sleepers, and it seems a little unfair.

Totally agree on TO and FM3 but TDD had a few too many munchkin spells in it; however, other than that it was a REALLY good un-official expansion.

TheClarkster 12-15-2003 01:35 AM

Monster Rancher 2 for the PS1. What a fun game, especially when you and your dad have a combined cd collection of about 1000 cds. Makes for a lot of monsters to unlock.

And does it have to be electronic? If not, Hero Quest is the best board game I've ever played, and I don't know anyone outside of my cousin who have ever heard of it, let alone play it.

dragon2fire 12-15-2003 07:42 AM

the best game no one plays is warlords battle cry 2

great game

MuadDib 12-15-2003 07:39 PM

Ranked in order of greatness
1. Xenogears (PS)
2. Shadowrun (SNES)
3. Amplitude (PS2)

SonicRL 12-16-2003 01:35 PM

Billy Hatcher (GCN)

This is a good game, and i'm surprised that not that many people play it.

zhevek 12-16-2003 06:36 PM

Tribes 2 all the way... I still love that game, and play all the time on the Houston vehicles server. I never understood why people didn't get into this game more, it's a great team based FPS!

Sho Nuff 12-17-2003 01:30 PM

Einhiender, Brigandine, Silent Bomber - PSX
Illbleed and MDK2 - Dreamcast
Ring of Red and Virtua Fighter 4 - PS2

Probably because we played Tribes 1 and dealt with all the jackasses who cheated and just sat there killing you over and over again with impossible weapons while invincible, and we didn't feel like plunking down money for a 2nd version of that ;)

It's a shame too, 'cause Tribes ROCKED until the idiots took over.

heyharry 12-19-2003 12:50 AM

You know, I think more people need to be playing Star Control 2. Sure it's retro. So very, very retro... but it's still really cool! One of the most well written and balenced games I've ever seen.

charlesesl 12-19-2003 11:54 PM

Freespace I and II
You have never seen a space sim untill you have played it.

The Geek 12-23-2003 11:27 AM

Kirby Air Ride.

Most neo-gamers dismiss it as "kiddy" just because you can't beat up hookers in it. It's a lot of fun.

When will people learn that games don't have to have an M rating to be entertaining?

Not many gamers have this attitude. Check out a lot of Gamecube games! People don't dismiss Mario because it's kiddy, or not play Donkey Kong Country because you play as a gorilla. Kirby Air Ride got annihilated in reviews from most critics; that's probably why no one has played it.

Sacrifice was a great game nobody played.

And I hear chrome is pretty good too, and nobody is playing the multiplayer...too many fps games I guess.

sartan 12-26-2003 08:01 AM

I agree with MuadDib about Xenogears and Shadowrun.
