What do you think is the best game is and game series in existence for the PC?

I think the best game series is the Grand Theft Auto Series and the best game is Half-Life

like never winter nights

and baldurs gate come to mind

but there are alot of good ones

I have to agree with Dragonfire on the Bioware games for the series.
Best game for the pc is Planescape:Torment at least as far as single player RPGs go

Half-life or Deus Ex.

Man I had a blast with both of them and HL had great multiplayer to boot.

I'd have to say that Deus Ex might have had a better singleplayer experience over HL by just a bit. I felt that I had more control over everything... although HL had slightly better immersion. Dammit. I don't know which game was better now. They were the absolute best though.

I could never get into Deus Ex - tried it a few times but just found it a bit slow and boring. I like Tac Ops - online games have far more replay ability. I got a bit addicted to Dungeon Seige when that first came out, and of course the Civilization series is brilliant.

this has been done many times, but i enjoy the question. I never have played a ton of pc games, but i've gotten my feet wet.

i also have to go with black isle/bioware RPGS: i liked planescape:torment so much i played it over and over, which i almost never do to any game now (i'm attempting my 2nd time through BG2, but it's taking forever...).

the fallout series is great too...

Best series: Black Isle/Bioware's various D&D titles, with the pinnacle being BG2

Best Game: GTA Vice City. I was blown away by the game. When I heard about it, the game sounded so misanthropic that I couldn't bring myself to be interested. I like playing heroes, not psychos. Then I actually played it at a friend's house. Damn. Awesome game, played the hell out of it.

i reckon some game like Civilisation 3 or Railroad Tycoon... i love games where you can just keep on playing and it never gets boring.

but Final Fantasy has been a magnificent series.
but, not sure if they´re quite as good as the Grand Theft Auto games...

In its time, the Bard's Tale trilogy was the best... particularly Bard's Tale 3.

Obviously, since then, Final Fantasy has exclipsed it.

Best series: I've got to go with pretty much anything by Blizzard.

Best game: Gotta go with Doom. It started the FPS genre for all intents and purposes. It hasn't held up as well as some others, but I gotta give something that groundbreaking the props.

I thought he meant what is the best game for PC and what is the best game series on PC.

If that's indeed what Simo meant, then I'll have to say my favorite PC game is Battlefield 1942, even though I understand it's not "the best." My favorite series would have to be...well, I don't have a favorite series. I don't play enough PC games to make a decision on that.

game: it's between half-life and starcraft. Starcraft is just timeless, and is still the shit to this day. Half- Life...well, I think it's one of the best simply because it did a good job of putting you in Freeman's place. Hopefully Doom III will surpass that, though.

series: Final Fantasy, hands down. Personally, I don't like many of them asid from 2, 3, and 7, but you have to respect a game series that still kicks ass after 15+ games.
