Darkcloud

An older PS 2 game, which already has a sequal, but I am interested in it. I wanted to get feedback before buying it though. Have any of you played the game? If so, any thoughts?

never played it myself, but my brother swears by it

I've heard good and bad about this game, mostly good. Look for it in a bargain bin. If it's above $20 don't buy it, after all like you said yourself it is an older game. If I remember this game is a dugenon crawler, right?

yeah, ive read some stuff on it and some people say it's Sony's ripoff of The Legend of Zelda, even the main character looks like Link. I think I'm still gonna let my curiousity get the better of me though and buy it.

I played it a while back- it's definitely in the Zelda mold, which is not a bad thing, particularly if you don't have a GameCube. I don't like the fact that you have to keep giving your player food and water at regular intervals though, and your sword will break over time, so you have to keep replacing it.

The other aspect of the game is the town-building, um, thing. :) I found that pretty enjoyable. The balance between hack & slash and building sim kinda gave me Actraiser flashbacks.

Hate to be the one person who slates this game, but, I found it really disapointing. The game seemed rushed to me, granted the game looks nice, but the layout and game play was too repetitive for me.

I havent yet tried the sequel but it cant be anyworse than the original.

Ill have a play on it later( still have it somewhere ) and let u know in more detail .

Its a fun game I thought. The building up of weapons and the town building adds a whole new level of personalizing the game. Granted setting up the towns in a certain way will get you special rewards, but after tht you can pretty much have free reign with it. The water aspect was annoying but...the sword aspect actually made me watchout for the weapons I had and made it fun to build them up.

Skip the first Dark Cloud game, it really sucked. Dark Cloud 2, however, is simply amazing. I'm not a fan of linear RPGs, but this game was really good. I'd recommend it, should be $20-$30 at places now.

Isn't the first one on PC as well. I remembered it as a Diablo clone.

Dark Cloud is a third person action adventure RPG game is memory serves me right, DC2 is very cool but I haven't played it enough to give a solid opinion.
